CHAPTER NINE
Auden was waiting for us at the hall; she was smiling at the crowd while the band sung out their hearts through the evening on stage. She finally waved at us when she saw us coming towards her.
"Hey, would you mind to do something for me?"
"Anything... as for the birthday girl's requests I would be honoured." I said and she smiled.
"There's this boy I like a lot since high school. And I feel like telling him about how I feel. What I want you to do is to sing him a song on stage and in the end I will call him up and tell him that the song was for him."
"Oh, alright."
"Thank you so much, Jane! You're such a darling! Now hurry up and go to stage. Just tell them what to do and they'll follow your lead. Love song is my best pick, okay?"
"Okay." I said with a fake smile. I finally got up on stage and thought of what song to sing.
"Ms. Jane. What to play?" a guy who is the lead guitar asked me.
"Enchanted." I stood up in the crowd and held the microphone on my hands...
"This song is dedicated to someone special from the birthday celebrant, Ms. Auden Grey." Everybody then turned to clap their hands as the band started to play..."There I was again tonight, forcing laughter, faking smiles... same old, tired, lonely place..." my eyes were set up at the crowd. It kind of felt like I was looking for someone and realized it was Will that I was looking for.
"Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes in vacancy, vanished when I saw your face... I was enchanted to meet you." He was still not in my sight.
"Your eyes whispered, have we met?‟ across the room, your silhouette, starts to make its way to me... the playful conversation starts, counting all your quick remarks... like, passing notes in secrecy... and it was enchanting to meet you... all I can say is I was enchanted to meet you..."
and he suddenly appeared to be walking on the crowd from the right corner of my eye.
And he was there, smiling at me as he watched me sing my heart out. This song reminded me a lot of the night three years ago back when our eyes met; where we learned that within that moment, we were in love...
He watched me the whole time as I sang the bridge of the song...
"And this is me praying that this was the very first page, not where the storyline ends, my thoughts will echo your name, until I see you again... these are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon, I was enchanted to meet you..."Then the light came running across the crowd... it was searching for someone to lay its brightness at, my eyes were still locked on Will as the light came in to right where he stood.
"Please. Don‟t be in love with someone else... please don‟t have somebody waiting on you..."
Those words danced on my head as the light finally laid its rays on him steadily. And as the song ended, Auden suddenly walked up on stage and took the microphone from me.
"That song was for you, William Lancaster."
My eyes suddenly widened at her words. She was still smiling, and her eyes were on him. As his brows twitched in wonder... his fake smile suddenly appeared in his face. Auden then shifted the atmosphere back to normal. The crowd finally went back to their own businesses and the band played an instrumental music. Auden ran down the stage and went towards Will. Will was looking at her as she approached, and there they were; starting a conversation that might lead them to the possibilities...
"You did a great job back there, bae." I heard Marco say those words as he held my shoulders gently. I smiled at him and my eyes went back to Auden and William. They looked happy. They look good together. And my heart felt like it was going to rip out of my chest.
Seeing the one you love with someone else made me feel like I wished for my cancer back than feeling this. It sucks being normal. It really sucks.
