Chapter 24 |

S A V A Y | S U A R E Z

"So how are you here... alive." I scoffed sitting at the table. I and my father decided to meet up at the diner to discuss what's been going on. After getting my crying emotions out the way, I'm pretty fucking pissed.

"I just think it's not the right time."

"Dad, what the hell are you talking about? It's been damn 5 years. If not now when!?"

I was about to continue my rant until Beth came to our table, "Well. who's this?"

"Dad this is Beth. Beth this is my father Henry." She shook his hand as he nodded saying hello.

"I thought you said he passed."

"That's exactly why we're here. To discuss where he's been."

"Oh. Okay, well can I take any drinks?"

"Pepsi and Lemonade."

"Alright, Savay. this meal is on me." She pointed as I laughed.

"Listen, that night wasn't suppose to go like that."

"Well, I kinda figured it out already."

He huffed, "They kidnapped me and killed your mother and sister. That same night I escaped."

"Wait, if you did why didn't you come back?"

"I thought they killed you all. I didn't know you survived. I kept in contact with your abuelita ever since."

I grew angry knowing my Abuela had some part of me not getting closure. Or as if I'm a goddamn child and doesn't deserve to know the truth.

"So why w-

"I told her not too, I wanted to be in-person to tell you everything and be here if that's what you needed. But, by the looks of it... you seem like you have everything under control."

"Just because I have everything under control doesn't mean that you still can't check up on me. Especially since I've been thinking your dead all these years."

"Your right, that's why I'm here."

I nodded, "How you been?"

"Good, I wanted you to meet my daughter and wife."

I stopped moving, "Your... your what?"

"My dau-

"Yeah. Heard you the first time. I was waiting for you to say you were just playing."

He looked away in guilt. I pointed my finger at him and laughed sarcastically.

"So you're telling me, why I'm out here fighting for my life... and you knew I was. You're getting your satisfaction handled?"

"Look, I met her year before knowing you alive. So-

"I ASKED YOU A QUESTION."

He stood up, "I'm still your father. You will not disrespect me in that way or any way."

"You disrespecting right now!, coming into my life years later than trying to slide pass how you got a daughter and WIFE!"

"You have needs, so do I. THAT'S LIFE. Now deal with it."

"I don't have to deal with a fucking thing. That's your little happy family while mines are in a god damn grave! Fuck out of here with allat bullshit yo." I slapped the cup of coffee to the floor as the cafe got silent.

Eyes lingered to us as Beth began to clean it up.

"Your mouth is going to get you fucked up. Things don't have to go Savay's way. Everything isn't about Savay. NOTHING IS ABOUT YOU." He growled

"Lemme ask you this when was the last time you visit Ma and Sarah's grave?"

He didn't answer.

"Never. You never did. I didn't get to be at their funeral because I was in the hospital fighting for my life. I've been doing what I have to do to get justice. Why you duck off and fuck off some broad. Your right, nothing is about me. It's about my family that was killed in cold blood while you live your happy life. So here's the catch, stay the FUCK away from me."

I slapped 600 on the table bolting out the door in anger. "Man, I need a new therapist."

I called Orlando. the phone rang twice before he answered.

"Hello."

"Pooda."

"Yes, baby girl?"

I started crying hysterically, "I need you."

"Where are you? What happened? what did he do to you!!" I heard fidgeting in the background.

"I'm on my way home. Calm down."

Orlando rubbed my hair while my head rested on his shoulders. After telling him everything, I became somewhat better. But that doesn't really stop the pain. He didn't even apologize, as if everything that happens wasn't his fault. He put his own daughter last & I can never forgive him, after all, my life he didn't even take into the action of his own words.

"Never leave family behind. Nothing is important other than family. Life or Death"

He's been calling my phone nonstop but I'm not about to answer. Obviously, he doesn't care about me or to put effort into seeing me. So why should I?

Orlando told me I should just wait a couple of days to calm down until I'm ready to talk again.

"Maybe in 5 years, I'll be ready."

He laughed, "Babe. Stop being like that."

"Like what?"

"Childish. It's many varieties of how to handle this situation."

"And the way I'm choosing is also a way too. So what's the problem?"

He sat up motioning me to do the same. "You have so much going for yourself right now. Your name is getting even bigger in the business, more money flowing."

He stopped for a few seconds which made me look up at him. "All I'm saying is, your such a beautiful girl and I think the more closure you get the more your personality can actually burst and show me something, even more, I haven't experienced."

I felt tears take over me as he chuckled, "Babe. Why? Why are you crying?"

"Because you're so nice," I whined

He laughed as he kissed my cheeks with his fingers caressing my face. "I'm only telling you what you deserve to hear. What you should be hearing."
