Kurt hadn't been this nervous since he came out and when he entered the school the first day after the holiday. He wasn't even half as nervous when he told his dad that he had quit the football team. Probably because he didn't care, but this time, Kurt was sure that he would care. A lot of people would. His plan was that at dinner, he would tell his dad, Carole and Finn that he had gotten his first boyfriend. Of course Finn knew that had gone out -they made it pretty obvious by walking hand in hand down the hallways at school,- but he was oblivious to the fact that they were now officially a couple. His dad knew that he was at Blaine's house at New Year's Eve, but he still believed that Blaine was just a friend because of what Kurt had told him when he asked who Kurt was going to visit when he announced that he was going to visit someone when they got into the new year.
Blaine had suggested that he should join them at dinner to support Kurt, but Kurt told him that he should stay away if his dad would react negatively, and what if he didn't like Blaine and wouldn't allow them to be together? What if Finn's and Blaine's friendship was at risk? What if being with Blaine was a mistake that would cause bitch of them a lot of pain? What if-
"Kurt?" Burt asked, snapping his finger in front of his son's face. Kurt was pulled out of his thoughts and shook his head a little.
"I beg your pardon." Burt looked at Kurt skeptically as confusion was plastered on the teen's face.
"You said that you wanted to tell us something, bud." Kurt glanced at the three people at the table and tried to figure out what to say, and if he should say it.
"I just wanted to tell Carole that the food tastes amazing as usual. Thank you, Carole, for serving us yet another masterpiece." Carole thanked him, but Burt hummed with a raised eyebrow. Kurt didn't blame him. He wouldn't believe himself either. Of course Caroles cooking was amazing, but it wasn't a reason to interrupt dinner by saying 'I have to tell you something.'
"Now, what do you really want to tell us?"
"I, um— There is—"
"He's seeing someone," Finn said with his mouth full of food, cutting Kurt off. The smaller teen looked at his dad and stepmom. Carole pursed her lips while Burt dropped his fork and his jaw dropped to the floor.
"Finn!" Kurt screeched and slapped the arm of his stepbrother lightly, as the tall teen was seated beside him with their parents at the opposite side of the table.
"What?" A bit of the food fell out of Finn's mouth and Kurt flinched in disgust. Finn should learn how to eat before talking. "Someone had to tell them."
"I was about to do it," Kurt replied.
"Kurt, you're seeing someone?" Burt asked as if he needed confirmation from Kurt himself. Kurt nodded. "Is he, um, is he on your team?" Once again, Kurt nodded.
"And on my team." Once again, Burt's jaw dropped and Kurt slapped his stepbrother's arm.
"Finn!" He screeched again. "He was talking about sexuality."
"Oh," Finn said in realization. "But he does play on my team."
"What do you mean, Finn?" Burt asked in curiosity. Kurt sensed that it would be a long night full of questions.
"He's on the football team with me." The eyes of the older man widened and he turned his attention to Kurt who scratched his arm.
"Are you trying to tell me that Kurt is seeing a football player?" Finn nodded at his stepdad.
"We started to date officially on New Year's Eve," Kurt said while his cheeks slowly got a crimson red nuance.
"And what's the name of this guy?" Finn was about to answer but Kurt's hand covered his mouth and the smaller boy answered instead.
"Blaine." Kurt removed his hand after responding.
"Blaine." Burt repeated. "Is this kid treating you well?" Kurt nodded while his dad looked to his wife who was seated beside him. "Something you want to tell us, Carole? You're quiet."
"I knew that Blaine had asked Kurt out." All three boys at the table were surprised by her words.
"Wait, what?" Kurt asked and tilted his head to the left.
"Blaine came here in the holiday and told me that he was going on a date with you, Kurt, and promised to never hurt you." Burt scoffed.
"So no one thought of telling me about this kid? Finn, you know him?" For a change, Finn actually swallowed the food in his mouth before replying to his stepdad.
"Well, besides the fact that he's on the same football team, he's my best friend and I helped him set up the date with Kurt."
"And no one has noticed him while I'm around?" Burt glanced at all three of his family members who all shook their heads.
"Well, I'm just happy for Kurt and Blaine." Finn shrugged and went back to eating like a pig. Carole nodded, agreeing with her son. Burt's attention was on Kurt while he was trying to knock the fact that his son now had a boyfriend into his head.
"I'm glad you found someone, Kurt," he said. "And I can't wait to meet the kid, but if he ever hurts you, I'll come after him with a shotgun." Kurt's eyes widened, but he let out a light chuckle. That's when Burt saw the smile that had returned to his son's lips after being gone for years.

"How did it go?" Blaine asked when Kurt had called him after the dinner.
"I didn't tell them, Finn did." He explained, situating himself on his bed.
"Wait, what? That seems so unli—" Blaine snorted in the middle of the sentence. "What am I even saying, it's totally something he would do."
"He even did it with his mouth full," Kurt explained. "It was disgusting to look at."
"I bet it was." Blaine chuckled. "But seriously, how did they react?" This time, Blaine sounded more nervous than anything else.
"No need to worry. My dad is alright with it." He heard his boyfriend exhale on the other side of the line. "But he said that if you'll ever hurt me..."
"I won't. I promise."
"Carole actually mention something that happened in the holiday. A conversation between you two at my house before our first date." Blaine chuckled nervously.
"It was stupid of me, I know."
"It wasn't stupid," Kurt assured him. "I'm actually glad you did it. It shows that you care."
"Of course I care."
"I know," he smiled at the thought of someone beside his family and the Glee Club caring about him for a change. "I don't want to make you feel worried or pressured, but my dad actually wants to meet you soon." That's when he sensed Blaine hold his breath in panic.
