AN: What happened at the end of the last chapter was that Blaine's father locked Blaine's mother into their bedroom to prevent her from keeping him from beating up Blaine, which he did.
When people said 'Valentine's Day,' Blaine imagined a day full of joy and surprising the one you loved the most. He for sure didn't imagine limping through the school building and not having more than one plan to surprise his boyfriend. Even though it had been two days since his father beat him up, every step he took still hurt a lot. Honestly, the injuries didn't even hurt as much as the fact that it was his own father who was the cause of them and that he did it because his son was finally happy.
"Are you okay, Frodo?" Santana asked, appearing by Blaine's side. He stopped and turned to his ex.
"I'm fine, Tana. Don't worry." Surprisingly, Santana let Blaine walk away and in the direction of his locker.
Kurt on the other hand had been planning a lot for the couple. That's why he approached his boyfriend -who was standing by his locker while taking out a few books- with the first surprise of the day in his hand: a homemade Valentine's Day card. He knew it was cliché, don't get him wrong, but he knew that Blaine would appreciate it. He wasn't so sure if he would like what he had written or if he would like the other surprises Kurt had planned.
When he approached, he stopped right behind his boyfriend and slipped his arms around the boy's waist. There was no way he expected Blaine to fight his grip, wincing in pain and clutching his stomach once Kurt had removed his arms.
"Blaine, are you okay?" Kurt asked. Blaine saw that the taller boy's eyes were filled with worry as he hesitated to place a hand on Blaine's shoulder.
"Do I look okay?" Blaine snapped, immediately regretting it when he saw Kurt tear up. His eyes widened once he realized the had actually snapped at Kurt. "Kurt, I'm so, so, so—"
The taller boy cut him off before he had a chance to finish his apology. "Don't bother." Then Blaine could only watch as Kurt walked away. He had hurt him. Blaine had hurt Kurt. He hurt the person he never thought he would hurt. Then he realized it: him and Kurt had been going through the exact same thing. They had both been hurt by the one person who they thought would never do it to them. George Anderson had hurt his son and now Blaine had hurt Kurt. Was Blaine really becoming his father?
No. He refused to let that happen. He needed to fix things with Kurt. He really cared for the pale boy and refused to let this come in between them. Kurt was not the one to blame for what had happened to Blaine, even though it happened because of their relationship. Blaine had just let all of his anger out on Kurt even though there was no reason for it.
Finn then walked by Blaine's locker, talking to Puck, but he was quickly pulled into an empty classroom by Blaine.
"B, what's up, Dude?" He asked with that dopey smile that was always playing on his lips.
"Have you seen Kurt?" Blaine asked, tapping his foot on the floor impatiently. He needed to find his boyfriend as soon as possible.
"Oh, yeah, I actually wanted to ask you why I saw him running out of the building while crying and clutching a card..." Finn's voice trailed off and his mouth formed an '0' shape.
"Finn! You didn't think for a second that it would be a good idea to go after him to see if he was alright?" Why was it necessary for Blaine to explain to Finn that it's a good idea to run after a crying person to try to help? Especially when it's a family member.
"Hey," Finn tried to defend himself. "You're his boyfriend and you know that he's upset, which means he's probably upset with you, so I think it's your job to go after him." Blaine stared at the tall boy, knowing that he's right. "He's on a bench behind the bleachers."
