And now he could no longer hide his disappointment in life behind a smiling face.

Xiao Zhan's face fell as he listened to Yu bin's words.

'Apparently my sister mentioned you without even though I hadn't requested yet.' He spoke through the phone. 'Sorry Zhan. It seems he's already got some interviews planned out. She said he agreed to call her if he wants to meet you eventually.'

Zhan sighed. 'Forget about it Bin. I better start looking for other jobs.'

He ended the call without saying goodbye and immediately opened his laptop, looking for job requests.

'Maybe I can just do art commissions like I used to back in uni...' He mumbled his thoughts out loud.

'Yeah...' He agreed with himself as he continued to look through the sites.

It was late, and soon, Zhan found himself drifting away from reality and into a world of dreams. Still mumbling as his eyes closed, laptop in hand.

His dream was interrupted by a bright light. Yawning, he stretched his back, getting up from the couch, rubbing his eyes. It was a while before he realized he had fallen asleep in his living room. The lights were still on but that wasn't what woke him up. He realized soon enough that he hadn't closed the curtains yesterday and now, he was seated directly in front of a ray of bright light.

'The lights are on...' He mumbled half asleep. Stretching a little more before jumping onto his feet. Sleeping on the couch sure wasn't comfortable. 'The lights are on...' He mumbled once again feeling as though he had forgotten something.

'...' He scratched his head. 'What did I forge- Gah! The lights were on for the entire night! My electricity bills are going to explode!' He scolded himself as he ran towards the light switch. He spent the next few minutes a mess. He almost used face wash as toothpaste and toothpaste as face wash. He had almost fallen asleep, hanging onto the shower curtain. And he somehow managed to burn cereal by accidentally pouring that into the pan instead of his pancake batter.

Eventually, he managed to get back into his morning routine and soon he was done with breakfast. 'I sure wish I was rich.' He thought before plopping back down onto the couch to continue with his hopeless search for a job.

WYB:

Wang Yibo drove home at high speed. He had been held back by something unexpected. Just as he was about to leave his office, one of his newer recruits had stumbled onto the floor, arms, wound around his stomach and blood spilling onto the floor.

'Call one of the medics!' He demanded as he hurried towards the recruit. He inspected the recruit from a distance before stepping in and unwinding his arms from around his waist.

'You'll live.' He said simply before signaling one of the bystanders. 'Stay with him. You know the usual protocol. I have to go now.' And with that, Wang Yibo left without a single glance back. Nobody said anything about it. They knew him and they knew they couldn't do anything to stop him from leaving. He was after all, Wang Yibo.

----------o0o----------

Wang Yibo looked down upon his blood-stained body. Seems like he was going to have to take the side-door in. He didn't want to scare a potential employee by walking in on them soaked in blood before even hiring them. He sighed; guess he was going to be even more late than he was originally. Let's hope his applicant doesn't bail on him.

As it turns out his applicant did not bail on him, though the man seemed pretty annoyed and demanded an explanation. No wonder he applied, Wang Yibo snickered internally, this man isn't scared of me at all.

Of course, in the end Wang Yibo had no choice but to lie. He knew straight away that he was not going to get along with this man. He was arrogant, demanding and had no sense of fear, the wrong kind. Eventually Yibo got so fed up with him he had to ask the man to leave before having gone through even half of the questions. The man huffed and stuff out his chest before leaving. Sneering as he exited from the room.

'You'll regret this Wang Yibo!' He threatened, 'I used to work for Jin Guangshan before that bastard son of his fired me!'

Wang Yibo could only roll his eyes. The Jin family might've been very influential once, but his family, the Wangs, have since overtaken them in both amount of riches and power.

After this first disaster of an interview, Wang Yibo had initially hoped that the rest of his selected candidates would preform even the slightest bit better. However, the rest were either just as bad or worse.

His second candidate had walked in nervous. He seemed reluctant and Wang Yibo could tell immediately, from his young age and his questionable hairstyle, that he was pressure into doing this by his parents. When the interview was finished, Wang Yibo couldn't help but ask the young man what he truly wanted to do.

'I want to be a chef, but my parents don't think it's a... suitable path.' He replied, tone high-pitched and words rushed.

'How about I turn you dow-'

'No no – no no' He shook his head, eyes pleading, 'My parents are going to kill me!'

'Let me finish.' Wang Yibo said holding his hand up to calm the boy down. 'How about I turn you down and instead, fund you, so that you can accomplish the dreams you do want to.'

'But that would include going back to universi- going to culinary school I mean. And a restaurant and –'

'It's not a problem.' Wang Yibo replied before handing him Richard's card. 'Call him and you guys can discuss the specifics.' Yibo gave him a small smile before waving goodbye as the boy left.

As for his third and fourth candidate, Wang Yibo didn't even want to think about them anymore. The third was a woman who was obviously here in hopes of gaining some... 'benefits' through his name.

As for the fourth candidate, he had given Wang Yibo a lot of hope. From his resume he seemed like a laid-back, friendly but hard working person. However, as soon as he walked into the room, Wang Yibo could tell straight away that he was much too laid-back.

And so, Wang Yibo was back in his study, staring down upon resume then resume. But even after he had gone through the entire stack a second time, he still couldn't find anyone who seemed promising.

I guess I'll have to give this a go, he thought as he called Meng Ziyi's number.
