Finally, close enough to start understanding.

'Next time I'm taking you to try normal food' Zhan told YIbo as he slid into the ridiculously expensive car.

'Who said there'd be a next time?' Yibo asked.

'You're going to have lunch at a normal restaurant next time.' Zhan was insistent.

'What is normal exactly?' Yibo wasn't giving up.

'Not you.' Zhan answered seemingly calm.

Yibo started the engine and stepped on the gas pedal before turning to Zhan.

'What do you do in your free time?' Yibo asked.

'Keep your eyes on the road sir.' Zhan replied and added, 'It's none of your business.'

Yibo visibly frowned and Zhan thought he was going to drop it but after a slight pause Yibo only turned to him again. 'I just want to know what you do and what you don't or won't do so that I don't force you to do anything you're uncomfortable with when you start working.'

Zhan knew that Yibo's explanation was only an excuse to get him to open his mouth and spill. However, he didn't feel like arguing. Yibo was already driving at a terrifying speed, how dangerous could things get if Zhan refused to answer and he got angry?

'You seem to care an awful lot about your employees. Doesn't go along with your cold demeanor at all.' Zhan half-joked. 'I read... I guess. I draw, I watch TV. I don't do a lot so you don't have to worry about bothering me.'

'You don't go out at all?' Yibo asked. 'Like shopping, even for food, or just to stare at that new watch and just feel?'

'No.' Zhan replied. 'I don't have that much money.'

'You know you don't have to buy stuff. You can still go out and enjoy life right?'

'It doesn't work like that' Zhan sighed and looked out of the car window. Watching the trees wiz past them; he smiled, a sad smile.

'I wasn't always poor.' Zhan finally explained. 'But I didn't start off rich either.'

Zhan closed his eyes, hoping that Yibo would understand that he no longer wanted to talk about it anymore and shut up.

 But Yibo didn't shut up.

'If you don't want to tell me, you don't have to. But I just want you to know that I know what it's like to have a difficult past.' after he heard Yibo's response, Xiao Zhan relaxed.

'Thank you.' Xiao Zhan replied. 'Maybe I'll tell you one day when I'm ready.'

'Take your time.' Yibo smiled warmly, eyes still fixed on the road in front of them. 'I doubt I'll fire you that quickly.'

Xiao Zhan offered a small smile and turned round to look out of the window once more.

NO ONE'S POV:

Yibo and Xiao Zhan spent the rest of the car ride in silence. It wasn't uncomfortable, and actually rather relaxing. Neither of them had moved to turn on the radio or music. Neither of them opened their mouth to talk; yet neither of them felt lonely. Wang Yibo wasn't uncomfortable in this silence and he could tell Xiao Zhan wasn't either.
