I think I wrote more than usual. I didn't continue with the detective stuff this time but it's all fluff. This chapter might be a bit boring but I want their relationship to seem real and progress slowly. I want to write about them slowly realising their feelings. The next update might also be a little slow. School's started and I've got a LOT of work. The next 2 years of my educational life are really important so updates will be delayed but I will try my best.
What I mean is normally once school started update schedule used to improve cause I got into a routine of doing this then this etc but now my workload has pretty much tripled so update schedule won't get much better 😅
Sorry.
!!!THIS IS COMPLETELY FICTIONAL!!!!
WYB:
Wang Yibo was seated in his office, staring out towards the lake that shone brightly from the other side of his window. His mind was adrift and he couldn't help but frown as he noticed himself fretting over things that he'd normally dismiss as simple or merely a nuisance which he'd have to deal with later - unimportant. However, much different from his usual detached attitude Wang Yibo couldn't help but grow increasingly worried over Xiao Zhan. Just what should he say if his PA decided to question him on today's events?
Wang Yibo was horrified with himself. Not because he had to let Luo Qiyang leave before the end of the interview and therefore still having no idea what her brother had said but rather, because he was more worried about Xiao Zhan than that entire ordeal. He had no idea what had gotten over him but suddenly he had developed a strange... unsettling feeling towards that person and he had no idea where it stemmed from and how to get rid of it. All he knew was that he would not be able to bring himself to lie to this man despite having been a living lying machine his entire life due to his position and job.
What on earth is going on?
Why am I reacting in such a way?
I've lied to countless people for countless reasons. Why do I suddenly feel an overwhelming guilt whenever I think of lying to... him?
Wang Yibo was furious. He was angry and mostly with himself. He knew that he had treated Xiao Zhan better than he had almost everyone else from the day they met but he had brushed it off as introducing himself to someone he'd be working closely with for (hopefully) the next decade. It was his first time hiring a personal assistant and so at first, he didn't find it strange that he treated this man better than he had ever treated anyone else, his own brother included.
However, now that he thought about it... truly thought about it... maybe it had all been instinct and he was merely acting the way his heart told him to rather than his brain. Maybe he wasn't just getting to know this person because of work. Maybe he did it because he wanted to.
Wang Yibo decided that when the time called for it, he wouldn't mind telling Xiao Zhan his secret when the time called for it. He found out, surprisingly... that he wouldn't mind if Xiao Zhan were the last person he could tell.
But now, the question was when and how?
Wang Yibo sighed, turning away from the bright landscaped which he had been subconsciously staring at for the past 10 minutes, burying his face in his hands, he pushed that thought to the back of his mind. He was sure he'd know later on when and how.
To Yibo, Xiao Zhan was now a book he had picked up. One he couldn't wait to open up and read. To learn about and learn from. He wanted to know everything about his new assistant. From why 90% of his smiles were fake to when he had first witnessed death. He wanted to know how this person could still have the strength to wake up and pretend to be okay after obviously having been involved in some sort of trauma in the past. He wanted to know everything. He had no idea why but to him, Xiao Zhan was just so alluring.
Wang Yibo snickered at his own ridiculous thoughts and got up, moving into his bedroom before flopping down onto the cool, soft sheets burying his head into his pillow still in his dress-shirt. He had lost too much sleep these past few days and with the sudden appearance of yet another thing - or rather, person - for him to worry about, Wang Yibo once again felt too devoid of energy to change out of his clothes.
Both:
The next day Xiao Zhan woke up at the usual time, cleaned up and made his way into Yibo's room to wake him up as he had been doing the last few weeks. When he walked into the room he was greeted with an unfamiliar sight. Wang Yibo, who would usually sleep on his back, legs stretched out, arms resting at his side no different from how he'd imagine a monk would sleep, was now lying flat on his stomach, his head buried in his own pillow fully clothed in yesterday's clothing. Xiao Zhan couldn't help but chuckle slightly at the sight before composing his expression and making his way towards the bed.
Xiao Zhan called Wang Yibo's name out loud several times, slowly increasing the volume. However, he still got no response. He couldn't stop himself from once again, giggling slightly as his fingers reached towards Yibo's shoulder.
Xiao Zhan poked Wang Yibo...there was no response
He shook Yibo... no response
He hesitated, before reaching for his forehead and flicking it.
Wang Yibo was sound asleep when he woke up with a jolt as someone's fingers flicked against his forehead slightly. He stretched his arms and rubbed his eyes open. Although he acted surprisingly out of character, Xiao Zhan couldn't help but feel a warm giddy feeling deep in his chest. He never knew that such a cold person could be so cute.
'Time to wake up.' Xiao Zhan urged Yibo up.
'Sorry was it difficult to wake me up?' Wang Yibo asked.
'Slightly more than usual.' Xiao Zhan admitted.
'I've been losing a lot of sleep recently.' Yibo yawned.
'You should take better care of yourself.' Xiao Zhan reprimanded him.
'Don't tell me what to do.' Yibo's tone bore a sense of playfulness no different from a young child. He was still disorientated having just woken up but even he was shocked at his own words. He had somehow managed to blurt the first thing he thought of, no filter at all! Wang Yibo lowered his head in embarrassment and pursed his lips. His pupils slid upwards to peek at Xiao Zhan who was still standing in front of him. Xiao Zhan himself was rather pleasantly surprised. He did not expect Yibo to say what he did but he found it rather amusing and... cute. Xiao Zhan didn't say anything, he smiled politely and bowed his head before leaving the room.
----------o0o----------
When Wang Yibo finally got downstairs for breakfast, he was momentarily stunned. After a week of not properly looking at the man currently welcoming him to the dining room, he suddenly couldn't help but acknowledge his good looks. Xiao Zhan was surprisingly really good looking. Wang Yibo truly wanted to know how good this man would look once he had let go of burden and was free. He made it a priority to heal Xiao Zhan at all costs.
Xiao Zhan himself was also struck dumb by his boss's cute appearance this morning. He had no idea why or how but since then his heart had seemed fluttery and light. He wasn't sure if it was shock from seeing such an upright person relax a little or if it was something else. He only smiled politely as he accompanied Wang Yibo to the breakfast table.
