Chapter 23: Where have you-? Hello?

When Xiao Zhan returned to his room, he looked around feeling restless. He kept thinking about the upcoming vocational holiday - holiday for Wang Yibo - and didn't know how to stop. He decided to call Yubin, who's texts he had been avoiding for a while.

'WHERE HAVE YOU-?' Xiao Zhan moved the phone away from his ear. 'HELLO? ANSWER ME YOU LITTLE PIECE OF-'

'I'm working-' Xiao Zhan angled the phone's speaker away from himself and spoke through the microphone near the bottom of his phone.

'bullSHIT!!' Yubin's voice was still loud enough for him to hear despite the speaker being so far from his ear. 'You couldn't spare 5 MINUTES. 5 MINUTES to answer my texts?'

'Okay, okay I'm sorry.' Xiao Zhan apologised.

'Hmph!' Yubin still sounded upset but Xiao Zhan could tell he was already forgiven.

'Come on, you're my only friend!' Xiao Zhan said. 'I can't have you being mad at me!' He decided to play along with Yubin's spoiled act.

'I'm your only friend so you should cherish me more.' He declared before going quiet for a bit. Xiao Zhan knew Yubin wasn't done speaking so he also kept his mouth shut. 'You know, you could have more friends if you opened up more. ' Xiao Zhan sighed, he knew Yubin would bring this up again but he didn't feel like talking about his social life.

'Even if I made the effort to make friends, they'd still find out about my past eventually.' Xiao Zhan used the same excuse every time. 'The incident wasn't exactly small.'

'A-Zhan, you know that's not what I meant. Maybe it's time you stop shouldering all the blame and let people know that you're innocent. I'm not saying you have to announce it. Not everyone has to know, just maybe a few close people.' Yubin pushed on.

'I don't need any more people.' Xiao Zhan's voice sounded weak. 'I don't want to hurt anymore people.'

'Okay,' Yubin knew his friend well. 'I won't push you if you don't feel comfortable. Let's talk about something else. You must have called me for a reason. Knowing you, if you didn't need me for something you'd probably forgotten about my existence for the next few months at the least.' He rambled on, 'So spill.'

'Wang Yibo is going on a trip.' Xiao Zhan got straight to the point.

'So you'll have a brea-'

'I'm going with him.' Xiao Zhan cut Yubin off halfway through his sentence.

'And?'

'And I don't know why but I feel incredibly nervous.'

"Zhanzhan, child, knowing you if you think hard enough, you'll realise that the reason you're worrying about this trip thing is really actually quite stupid.' Xiao Zhan knew that Yubin only meant half of what he said and was just toying with him. 'After all... going on a trip that isn't technically a vacation gives you a valid excuse to ignore me for the next week or year considering it's you. You must be ecstatic!'

'Aww... poor Binbin-' Xiao Zhan was cut off.

'Don't use that name, how many times do I have to tell you? It sounds like trash.'

So this is a short chapter....

I'm so sorry ahahaha

It's just recently I've been bombarded with a bunch of coursework. I actually wrote most of this chapter like a few weeks ago but I haven't had enough time make it the usual length. I've been gone so long though, so like even though it's not the usual length I thought you'd guys appreciate it if I posted it anyways.

I've said it before and I feel I have to say it again cause it keeps making me feel bad but Imma be really inconsistent for a while (while = maybe around 2 years? 😳 or until I learn how to do time organisation ahaha) 

Also idk but if the characters are inconsistent please tell me cause you guys could possibly be reading this in one go or at least more consistently than I am updating. Cause in the past I'd always reread the chapters before (like a few of them) just to keep the continuity but I sorta don't have the time???? Sooo.... sorry :/

I rant so much nowadays I'm so sorry.
