!!!EVERYTHING HERE IS FICTIONAL!!!!
XZ:
'I'm tired.' Wang Yibo said suddenly as he sat down and picked up his fork. Xiao Zhan did not know how to respond so he remained silent. 'I want to take a break.' Wang Yibo continued ignoring his PA's curious expression.
'If you're tired then you should.' Xiao Zhan finally responded. Wang Yibo nodded and took a bite of his breakfast. He chewed, deep in thought and didn't notice his PA's sudden change in demeanor.
'If I plan a short trip, would you go with me?' Wang Yibo stopped eating for a while and looked up at Xiao Zhan.
Xiao Zhan who was already panicking internally trying to figure out what had happened and why his heart felt so strange today started panicking even more. He struggled to keep his thoughts hidden beneath his skin. 'S-su-sure..!' Xiao Zhan cringed at his own voice.
Wang Yibo noticed Xiao Zhan's struggling expression and thought he only agreed because he felt he had to. 'You don't have to go if-'
'No I want to go with you.' Xiao Zhan interrupted, sure of his decision. He no longer had family and the only person occupying his time now was this guy here so if he planned on going on a trip Xiao Zhan might as well also go. He didn't like being left with nothing to do, it gave him too much time to think - and he didn't like thinking too much.
Wang Yibo smiled at Xiao Zhan's reply and rapidly finished his breakfast. 'Don't eat too fast!' Xiao Zhan warned.
'No I have to quickly get to work.' Wang Yibo refused. 'I have to set another appointment with Luo Qiyang and get that interview done.' He explained.
Xiao Zhan nodded in acknowledgement. In all honesty, Xiao Zhan had no idea why Wang Yibo decided to get a PA. Xiao Zhan hardly did anything at all. Apart from waking him up, reminding him about breakfast, dinner and maybe occasionally helping him grab things. Even Wang Yibo's schedule was not planned by him, it was handled by Richard. When Wang Yibo needed to be picked up it'd also be Richard who went. Why didn't the guy just make Richard his PA and get a new butler??? Not that he was complaining though, this job offered a lot more money than his previous jobs and he didn't do nearly as much work. So when Wang Yibo asked him to go on a trip with him Xiao Zhan couldn't help but feel a little eager.
WYB:
Wang Yibo really felt like taking a break. He was extremely tired and wanted to go on a trip. He felt that since he didn't exactly have friends... or real friends he might as well just go with Xiao Zhan.
It was a lot easier for Wang Yibo to give his subordinates a break than it was for him to request for one for himself. Luckily he had never really asked for a leave before and he was genuinely good at his job which meant those above him valued him deeply. However, gaining permission didn't mean he could just walk out of the office like that. Being the one in the highest position, the one who had the final say in almost everything and the one who made the most crucial decisions, Wang Yibo had to make sure to leave someone capable and trustworthy in his place. He also had to make preparations for his disappearance, set guidelines and pre-instruct his subordinates on what to do if they are forced into certain situations. All the complications and extra work he had to do meant Wang Yibo was almost always too lazy to bother taking a break at all. He was almost always working and never really went on holiday. In this line of work - especially considering how unpredictable it was - they needed to be detailed, precise and undeniably accurate. Wang Yibo never planned to stay in this line of work forever, but it had almost been 10 years and he still couldn't leave.
... The truth was, he wouldn't let himself leave...
As much as he hated his job and it's complicated nature he just couldn't bring himself to leave. He was too power hungry and he knew it. He knew that he only willingly worked in this position for the power - but he liked to think he had a justifiable reason for it. It wasn't for benefits, it wasn't for his own protection or some strange need to free himself from the law, rather, it was because of his traumatising past. He would not allow anyone he cared for to lose their lives because he wasn't strong enough ever again. He had to make sure that everything was under control - he had to make sure that no more mishaps or mistakes could ever happen again.
However, he had his limits too. Wang Yibo knew the last few weeks had taken more from him than ever before and suddenly he realised just how tired he was. Maybe, just this once, he would take a break. Just for a while. Nothing bad could happen right?
Wang Yibo sighed, resting his forehead against his hands. He sat in the comfort of his office, deep in thought before reaching for his laptop and getting to work.
----------o0o-----------
That night, Wang Yibo collapsed into bed as soon as he reached home. He felt tired and sticky from sweat after running around the entire day but his limbs ached too much for him to be bothered anymore. He closed his eyes ready to sleep when his door slowly slid open.
Wang Yibo could tell, from the sound of his movements, that the person who had just entered the room was Xiao Zhan. He relaxed and closed his eyes - he didn't feel like talking for the rest of the day.
He listened as Xiao Zhan approached the bed. He listened to his breathing and the sound of the covers shifting as Xiao Zhan reached for the slippers that were still on his feet, the belt that still wound round his abdomen and the jacket that still covered his shoulders. Feeling slightly more comfortable Wang Yibo continued acting as he felt the covers slowly move up to his shoulders. He flinched slightly as something pressed along his forehead, brushing his bangs to the side.
'You work so hard.' a voice suddenly rang out from next to him. 'I hardly know anything about you but I'm glad you're finally taking a break.'
Wang Yibo lay still as Xiao Zhan exited the room. He felt surprisingly calm and suddenly an overwhelming sense of pride settled deep inside his heart. He felt as though he had just done something good and had earned some approval from someone he cared for.
!!!!!THIS IS ENTIRELY FICTIONAL!!!!
Yes, I'm trying to give all the characters backstories cause it make everything more interesting. Also it gives a better insight into who each of the characters are and hopefully makes what they do seem more reasonable. I haven't read through it but I wrote half of this like half a week ago and the other half today at like 11 so there might've been some sort of skip? Like inconsistency? Anyways, no, the update schedule might not get better (felt like I needed to say it again) but honestly I'm not leaving this book. I've got the whole story planned out and that's not usually something I do so obviously gotta keep writing. Although I'm using actor names for a lot of the characters so far, I've decided that for future chapters I might opt for character names just so it'll make more sense. Like in terms of family relations. Also cause villains already exist so why use the poor actor's names for evil people when I can clearly use evil people?
