Chapter 27: Incompetence

Right, here's your fairly late chapter lol.

It's also fairly short.... sorry. 

Anyways the excitement is startinggg. I have no idea what I'm doing, feel free to give me pointers or constructive criticism!!

Also idk if I mentioned this but sometimes I will use like character names instead of irl names (there are many reasons so I won't be getting into why just yet.)

And remember THIS IS FICTION!!!

Wang Yibo didn't know why but he felt a sudden wave of annoyance. It was his holiday. His first one too. Could these people really not do anything without him?

But alas, he was the centre of the organisation. He couldn't just slack off. Not yet anyways.

'Send me the details.' Wang Yibo instructed after a long pause. 'Wait for instructions.' Wang Yibo hung up and shoved his phone into his pocket.

Were it another case, he would've handed the case over to one of the individual teams in the organisation -- Meng Ziyi would've been a good choice. However, this case was centered around him. Even if he trusted someone else enough to hand everything over to them, no one would be as exposed to any of the evidence as him.

He knew there were risks in taking on such a personal case but he knew he wouldn't be able to stop himself from interfering had he handed it over to someone else. Despite being the leader of an organisation for so long, he still didn't know how to completely trust others.

'Xiao Zhan,' Wang Yibo called out as he made his way back to Xiao Zhan. 'We're going back to the hotel.'

Xiao Zhan nodded and with that they both got up and left.

Not long after they got back to the hotel, Wang Yibo left once again, a large briefcase (Xiao Zhan swore he had not noticed when helping Wang Yibo unpack before) in hand, instructing Xiao Zhan over his shoulder as he made his way out of the door not to let anyone into the room under any circumstances.

Xiao Zhan didn't question Wang Yibo's tense tone and agreed.

Wang Yibo slammed the hotel door shut in a hurry and made his way to the carpark, stuffing a small earbud into his left ear.

'I'm on my way to work, I'm sorry for being late.' Wang Yibo spoke under his breath

'How much time do you think you'll need?' A voice fed into his ear. The voice was unrecognisable and was definitely heavily modified.

'5 minutes and 23 seconds' (A/N that was totally not intentional) Wang Yibo answered.

'Where are you now?' The voice questioned him.

'1st street 8th building. What assignment do you have for me?' It was his turn to ask.

'Assignment 0 it's on page 0' The voice answered.

There was a pause and a sigh could be heard from the other end of the call. 'Boss this system really is time consuming, we ought to change it.' The voice was no longer modified and a youth's voice could be heard from inside the earbud.

'It's important to maintain certain precautions.' Wang Yibo explained.

'Yeah but what if it's REALLY REALLY an emergency? Like who has the time to answer all these strange questions?' The youth was relentless.

Wang Yibo did not answer. There was a long moment of silence between the 2.

'I'm exiting the lift, which car is it?' Wang Yibo asked.

'...'

'HELLO?'

'Huh?!? OH!... er we didn't have time to acquire a very good car so you'll have to stick with this for now.'

'Which car is it?'

'Okok wait, patience.' Wang Yibo could hear the tapping of keys from the other end of the call. 'It's a very generic car. Silver uh... ew. It's small.'

Wang Yibo groaned. 'Where's 46?'

'Oh he had to go deal with some other stuff.' The voice explained.

'00, if you can't do this job well I promise that when I get back I will be putting you on the field.' Wang Yibo scolded.

'Ok calm!! It;s a Toyota, plate number [insert plate number]' 00 finally said something useful.

Wang Yibo took less time finding the car than 00 did trying to describe it.

It's a bit of a cliffhanger oops.

Now you have to wait possibly up to a month (depending on how tired I feel or how stressed I feel cause we all know my update schedule is nuts) for the next chapter!!

I'll try to update the next chapter sooner tho but idk... no promises.
