This danger part of mentality a lot of people have about many people in our society that should be a "fix" or cure for someone differences.

"Why is it that we tell "normal" kids to shine and stand out but tell kids with disabilities they need to blend in?"-Unknown

That quote is so true! Most of my life, I have been told to blend in instead of being different, this including parents, teachers, and other adults. You know the problem with being told that you need blend in that person with the differences think that they need to be "fixed". We become a society, who want to "fix" people like technology. As child of two people, who have been technology field almost as long it exist, there are too many people who still believe this to be true. But "fix" someone is preventing our society from growing because those differences add more value to our society.

"Autism is not disease. It is different operating system. There is no cure needed for someone's method of existence."-Unknown

Most people do not know the one of the main reason, I started being more open about my Autism was about 2 years ago, I end a friendship of almost 15 years because he thought the main purpose of Autism Awareness was to cure it. I straight up asked him, what if I told you I cure you for being "normal" you would think I am crazy. But because I am different from the "norm" you think it right to find a cure of it. I had explain that even after figure out I did not have Attention Deficit Disorder, I was keep on my medication because it was easier for the teacher to deal with me with medicated. Tell me that does not tell someone that need to be cure or fix.

But we forget as society, how important those differences are. We need those differences to have innovations in our society.
