One of the hardest part of Autism is that I have issues figuring out if things are messed up. As children, it drove my parents crazy if I could feel the food on my face. Over the years, my mother has figured out that I can feel it so I do not know where it is for the most part. Yes, I am adult but I can not feel it so we come up with a better solution than being mad at me for not feeling it.
Over the last year, I have to switch insoles from pair shoes to another on regular basis. Twice I have only switched one insole to second pair and went for a walk with only one insole. It is another of those I can not feel the difference between two until I took the shoes because I can feel the difference between them.
This are two of many occasions when I have a sensory struggle...my body does not interpret the messages from sensory information in a situation where most people think that I should be able feel something but I can not control that my sensory issues are part of my Autism.
