Chapter 5

They get up and get dressed and head out. They walk up the street to a little diner and sit to look at menu and place their orders and wait for it to get done and pay and leave.

As they are walking down the sidewalk someone walks up to Ethan.

"Hey man, how are you?" Jacob noticed Ethan got a little uncomfortable.

"Hey, not much just got dinner and going back home with my friend here."

"Hi I'm Jacob." He shakes the guys hand.

"Alex. Nice seeing you again Ethan, call me. Well get together soon if you would like." Ethan just nods and they walk away. They don't speak the rest of the walk back to Ethan's house.

They get inside and he gets two plates and forks out and places them on the island. As he is getting the food out, he noticed Jacob looking at him.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Just wondering who that guy was."

"Someone who doesn't matter anymore, he's an ex and it ended badly so I get uncomfortable when I'm around him."

"Is that why you told him I'm just a friend?"

"Well no I told him that because we are just starting out and I didn't want to call you my boyfriend until I knew for sure what is going on with us. I wanted to tell him you were, but I wasn't sure how you would feel about it since you haven't come out yet. I was just honestly looking out for you."

Jacob sighs. "I know it's hard right now, but I want to see where this goes, with some patience and time, I'll be able to tell people who I am."

"I know, that's why I didn't say anything to him. I want you to be comfortable and I told you, I'm here for you, no matter what. Now here, eat before it gets cold." He puts the plate down in front of him and they start eating, they talk as they eat and laugh and have a good time.

When they finish, they get a beer and sit on the sofa and start watching MIP. Half-way through the movie Ethan's phone rings.

"Excuse me, I'll be right back." He gets up and answers his phone walking into his bedroom.

"Hello? Not right now no, I'm relaxing today. I had a busy week and I wanted to just sit and do nothing and watch tv all day. No don't come over, I'll just see you sometime this week. Bye."

He walks out and sits back on the sofa and takes a long drink of his second beer. He sits it down on the coffee table and sighs deeply.

"Everything alright?" Jacob asked looking at Ethan with concern.

"Hmm? Oh, yea everything's fine. Ok look there's something you should know about me." He turns to face Jacob and sighs.

"As you know I have been gay almost all my life and I have had a couple serious relationships and one of them was Marcus. Well after he was 'dead' I sorta lost my way if you will and slept with a lot of guys, like a couple hundred lot of guys.

It was over the course of a few years and some I slept with more than once and some were mistakes. I get calls from the ones who I liked to sleep with when they are around to see if they want to hook up and hang out.

I went all over the place to meet and hook up with guys, not just in town. Sometimes I would be gone for a week or two just hooking up out of town, I was not myself, I was lost and broken, and I didn't care. I haven't had a serious relationship with anyone till about two months ago when I left Alex. I was with him for two years, it wasn't all bad at first, but it turned bad and it just took some time in leaving him.
