Authors POV

After a productive morning, the two parents headed home from the courthouse with a skip in their step. Nothing could bring them down.

If someone or something tore them apart, they knew they would find their way back to each other. They were officially a family with a stamp from the court off in New York City.

Miahla is formally and legally Ellie's mother, it meant she could sign any documents and have the final say in really anything, medical, legal, etc. related

Nick took the day off so they could sit down with Val to talk about how their household will run, now the Mia is living and official Ellie's mother.

Mia wanted to do things instead of sitting around and spending money that her boyfriend soon to be his fiancé makes.

When they arrived home, the two saw Val in the kitchen. "Hey Val, can we sit down and talk about the household?" Nick asked.

Val nodded and walked down to sit at the table where papers and folders where already there. It was like Val knew they wanted to talk to her, or she forgot about them yesterday.

"Val, we love you, and you truly are family." Nick started "Mia and I would like to take over control of the house, we would still need help with cleaning. We would still love you to live here, and I know you don't have a family." Nick finished.

"Sure, as I told Mia, I am more like the help than anything, I am here to make your life easier, and if you are unwell, I will be happy to make your life easier. If I miss Miss Mia wants to work, I'd be happy to continue doing the cooking if Mia still would like to take Ellie to school." Valaska explained.

"Thank you so much, Val, since there is nothing to do, you may have time off," Nick said.

"How about you call Emily, I saw her checking her out the other night," Mia spoke. "Oh, she's?" Valaska questioned.

"Yes, here is her number," Mia said, writing her number down on a ripped piece of paper.

"Thank you," Val spoke with a smile, leaving the table. "How did you know she was gay?" Nick asked Mia.

"Well, Emily mentioned it, and I have been doing some research and snooping on her Facebook page?" Mia explained quietly, smirking.

"Now that this will be your house, you can do what every to it; I want you to be happy," Nick told his girlfriend, smiling.

"Thank you," she replied as her phone chimed. Nick looked at her, "That's weird I never get messages," Mia spoke confused.

Mia opened her phone, seeing the notification on her email. She opened her email. "It's an email from the university saying that I am in the final phases on an entry for the competition!" Mia speaks with excitement in her voice.

"Congratulations, babe," Nick replies with a smile giving her kiss.

"How about this we go into the study and get it set it up for you? You might need it.

"Hey, how about this? You can still work, but from home, make your hours, you can still write?" Nick ask ready to help her career started. Mia chuckled as the two went up to the office.

After the mid-morning making the home office for both of them, the pair went down to make their lunch, which Nick hadn't done in a very long time.

The two ate lunch in the chilly New York air. "Hey, since Valaska isn't here and Ellie is at school, did you want to spend some much needed alone time?" Mia asked as she smoother her hand over his upper thigh.
