The Glitch in Reality [Bnha OC insert]

Chapter 3

Today was the day I got to figure out if I have a quirk or not. I was really excited. Ethan woke me up at 8:00 and, after getting ready, he took me to the doctor's office.
"We're here for a... quirk related thing." Ethan told the person at the desk.
"Alright, and who's this is for...?" The person asked.
"It's for Amethyst... uh, what's your last name?" Ethan asked me.
"Ametrine." I told Ethan.
"Alright, take a seat, I'll call you when it's time."

We took a seat and waited. When it was finally our turn, we walked to the correct room and took a seat.
"Lets get right to it then, follow me." The doctor told us. We followed. There was a small machine in the hallway. The doctor motioned me to step on, so I did.
"I just need a small blood sample." The doctor said. I cringed as he pricked my finger with a small needle, collecting a drop of blood.

The doctor put the sample into a part of the machine. It made a low humming sound and the screen changed. It said "glitch" in big letters at the top.
"Your quirk is glitch. It says that if you snap your fingers on your right hand then an inventory screen with appear in front of you, making everything pause and go dark. You can store items and see "stats" in that menu. To close the menu you snap your right hand again. If you snap your left hand you can see the stats of the person you are looking at." The doctor explained.

"Try it." Ethan told me. I snapped my right hand and a menu popped up.

"Wow, I have a pocket knife!? And I have a quirk!? Cool!" I reached up and touched the word "pen", then "use". The mechanics reminded me of Undertale. Suddenly the pen appeared in my hand and the word "use" was replaced by "put back". I snapped my fingers on my right hand again, and everything brightened and came alive again.

"I found my pen. It was in the items menu!" I said excitedly to Ethan. He smiled at me.
"Try snapping on your left hand." Ethan told me excitedly. I nodded and snapped my fingers on my left hand. A small rectangular box appeared in front of Ethan, it had his "stats" on it.

"Did it work?" Ethan asked.
"Yep." I replied, as I read his stats.

"There's just one more thing about your quirk. It's not that clear, the system is glitching slightly. But from what I can read, if you start talking about how you got here you will glitch between realities. I'm not sure what that means but that's what it says. Also, this machine only tells you the basics of your quirk, so you will have to find out everything else by yourself." The doctor explained.

"Wait a minute. The menu said cell on it. Is that like my phone?" I asked.
"Try using it." Ethan told me. I snapped my right hand fingers. The menu popped up, and everything around me went dark. After putting away the pen, I pressed the "cell" button and a new screen popped up. It was titled "emergency phone". There was a place for emergency contacts, but I didn't have any there. I snapped my fingers to close the menu.

"It's an emergency phone." I explained. "I'll have to save your phone number in it."
"That would be good." Ethan told me. "Anyways, thanks for the quirk evaluation. We should be heading out, I have to do some hero work today." Ethan told the doctor.

After Ethan finished speaking with the doctor, he drove us back to his house.
"Have you thought about any high schools you want to go to?" Ethan asked me.
"I'm not sure, any you would recommend?" I asked.
"It depends what course you wanna go into. If you wanna be a hero, then UA is the choice for you. It's hard to get in, but it's worth a try if that's what you wanna do."
"I'll think about it." I told Ethan. He nodded and kept driving.

Once we got back to Ethan's house, Ethan handed me some money.
"What's this for?" I asked.
"Well, I thought you could buy some groceries as something to do. You don't mind, do you?" Ethan explained.
"It's fine, I just need some directions on where to go." I told him.
"Right. Um, I know it's a bit old fashioned, but here's a map of the area." Ethan handed me a map. "You can keep it in your "inventory" while you walk."
"Good idea." I quickly used my quirk and put the map in my inventory.

"Alright, I gotta go now. Oh and one last thing, here's a key to the house, don't loose it. Also, if there's any money left over after getting groceries, you can spend it on whatever." Ethan handed me a key. I put that in my inventory too. Ethan and I both left the house and locked it behind us, then went our separate ways.

As I walked to the store I started to hum a song to myself. I missed having music, I doubted that this "reality" had the same music as what I'm used to. I was also confused on how I understood people like it was English. It's obviously not since apparently I'm in Japan, but I'm still confused on how I'm communicating. Either way, I kept walking to the store.

The store was just a small family owned grocery store. It had everything on the shopping list; Bread, Fish, Chips, Fruit, and Rice. Once I grabbed everything I went up to the cashier.
"3000 yen, and maybe your number~." The guy at the till said. "What the hell? Why is he hitting on me, I'm fucking ugly." I wondered in my head.

"Just take the money." I told the guy angrily. I quickly put the groceries in my inventory. "Oh, and by the way... I like girls." I said as I walked away. I looked back and saw the guy's jaw had dropped. I simply laughed and walked away. It wasn't a lie, I just didn't say that I also like guys.

As I started to walk back, I saw an ice cream shop. Looking at the amount of cash I had left, I decided to get ice cream. I walked up to the cashier.
"Hey, what can I get for you?" The girl asked. I looked at the flavors.
"I'll take one scoop of strawberry ice cream in a regular cone please." I told her and handed over the appropriate amount of money.

"Here you are. Have a nice day!" The girl told me. "She's so polite." I thought to myself as I started to walk back to Ethan's place. "I'll have to get Ethan to take us there more often."
