Chapter 14

After a week of a few odd encounters with the other first year classes and calling in sick to work, it was finally the day of the Sports Festival.
"Is everyone good and ready?! The event's about to begin!!" Ida asked the class.
"Yes!" Everyone but me replied.
"Woah! You look like you saw a ghost Amethyst! You good?" Kirishima asked me.
"I hate crowds." I answered.

"AAAAND HERE COME OUR FIRST YEARS!" Present Mic shouted as everyone walked out and gathered in the middle of the arena.
"Now for the athlete's oath!" Midnight announced, who was stood on a podium in the arena.
"R rated? Should she really be in a high school?" Tokoyami pointed out.
"Put some clothes on Midnight. Ugh." I whispered as I covered my eyes.
"Just deal with it Glitch Bitch, she's not changing." Bakugo told me with his signature angry look on his face.
"Glitch Bitch!?"

"Pipe down! Your student representative is... class 1A's Katsuki Bakugo!" Midnight announced.
"K-Kacchan!?" Deku whimpered. Bakugo made his way to the podium.
"Amethyst, didn't you get first on the entrance exam? Shouldn't you be going up." Yaoyorozu asked me. I shifted slightly.
"There's no way in hell I'm doing a speech in front of a class, let alone an entire arena of people." I explained.

"Make no mistake about it. I'm gonna take first place." Bakugo announced as his 'speech'.
"DAMMIT BAKUGO!" Kaminari shouted. There were many other complaints among students in other classes.

"Now without any delay, let's get the first event started!" Midnight shouted.
"Everything in UA's always without delay." Uraraka pointed out.
"And the fateful first event this year is..." Midnight pointed at a giant screen. "This!" 'Obstacle Course' was on the screen.
"An obstacle course?" Deku mumbled to himself.

"It's a race between every member of all eleven classes! The course is a four kilometer lap around the stadium itself!" Midnight explained.
"This should be simple." I thought to myself.
"RACER'S IN YOUR POSITIONS..." Present Mic shouted. Everyone got ready. "START!"

I snapped my fingers and everything paused, grabbing the lantern. I made my way past the gate and robots, then to the fall area. Taking my time, I climbed across using the ropes. It was a bit difficult with the lantern, but I did it and made my way to the land mines.

As I walked through the land mines, I soon learned they didn't work while my quirk was activated. It was quite a long walk so I subconsciously started to hum a soft tune. Humming the tune turned into singing, and walking soon turned into a bit of dancing. Once I got to the end of the land mine I walked just behind the finish line, and snapped my fingers. Once I walked into the arena it went quiet.
"It seems Todoroki has taken the lead and- Wait WHAT!? Someone already finished!?" Present Mic shouted in confusion.

"As expected." Aizawa said.
"Well I guess that means Amethyst Ametrine takes first place and will move on to the next round." I sat down and waited for the rest of the first years to finish.

"AAAAAAND THAT CONCLUDES THE OBSTACLE COURSE!" Present Mic yelled, making everyone wince from the loud noise.
"The top 42 of this round will move on to the next. Now the main selection really begins!" Midnight announced.
"The next event is a Calvary Battle~!" I mocked Midnight and snickered to myself.
"And the next event will be... a Calvary Battle!" Midnight said as expected.

"All of you has been assigned a point value based on your ranking in the last event. The value of each team depends on its members. Each individual point value starts at five, at the bottom. So 42nd is 5 points, 41st, is worth 10. Get it? And it all adds up except for 1st. 1st place is worth... 10 MILLION POINTS!" Midnight explained to us. Everyone looked my way.
"Right, I got first."

"Any headband you grab must be worn on the neck or higher. Now you have 15 minutes! Time to form your teams." Midnight told us. Everyone nodded and went into groups... avoiding me with all costs.
"Well shit... I really didn't think this through, now did I?" I thought to myself as I received some glares.

"Amethyst! Be on our team!" I heard a voice yell. I turned around and saw Kirishima waving with a smile.
"Shitty hair! She's gonna make us loose! Fuck off Glitch Bitch!" Bakugo complained out loud.
"No! Bakugo that's so rude! Also think of it practically, we would start with the 10 million, and with her quirk, if anyone steals it she can literally stop time, teleport, or whatever her quirk is, and get it back." Kirishima explained to Bakugo.

"Oi, Glitch Bitch! Get back here, you're on our team even if you don't want to!" Bakugo shouted to me.
"Really!? Okay, I have a plan!" I told them.
"Well it's more than either of us have. So let's hear it." Kirishima told me.

"Alright. So Bakugo, you wanna be on the top. That's fine, just shift your weight onto the other person, so if I have to use my quirk I won't make you fall if I need to turn around. We just need one more person..." I trailed off in thought.
"What about Mina? She can distract people with her acid when you use your quirk." Kirishima suggested.
"Yeah, that'd work." I agreed.
"Tch, whatever." Bakugo said, which translates to "yes".

"HEY MINA! COME JOIN OUR TEAM!" Kirishima yelled.
"Okay!" She replied and happily joined our team. I explained the plan to her.
"Well why don't you and Bakugo just switch spots then?" Mina asked.
"Bakugo would use his quirk and destroy our formation. And if I was on the top I wouldn't be able to touch the ground. And if I wanna use my quirk effectively I should be on the ground." I explained.

"And that's your 15 minutes! Get ready to BATTLE!" Present Mic shouted as we all got in position.
