Chapter 11

As I sat on the uncomfortable chair in the principal's office, tears rolled down my face.
Principal Nezu lectured me, "Ametrine! Pay attention to me. You really hurt that boy's feelings, and what you did is not acceptable here at UA high! You must respect his choice to believe something so important like that. I'm very disappointed in you. He was trying to save his peers from a disgustingly toxic community of people and-"

I interrupted Nezu, "Disgusting? Toxic? Do you hear what you're saying!? We are none of those things! All it is, is love-"
"Ametrine, do not interrupt me-"
"We are simply people being themselves, loving people, being supportive. But it's people like YOU, who make us hide and suffer! We have to fake so much!" I argued in frustration.
"Say another word and you will be suspended for a week!"

I shut my mouth and silently cried.
"You are suspended for two days and will have detention all next week. And if you pull another stunt like this again, you will be expelled. Your suspension starts tomorrow, now go finish your lunch break." Principal Nezu explained. I nodded and wiped my eyes, then walked back towards the cafeteria.

"Hey, Amethyst! You okay!? I saw what happened but you look like you were crying." Kirishima asked and took me to his table. Mina, Sero, and Kaminari were there as well.
"I-I'm suspended for two days starting tomorrow..." I told him, a tear rolled down my face.
"Do you mind me asking what happened?" He asked. Mina started to rub my back.

"You know how that k-kid was being homophobic, r-right? Well I stood up for the other kid and t-took the homophobic one to the principal's office cause I don't tolerate homophobia. Well it turns out the principal is also homophobic and the bully kid lied and said I was attacking him when I called him out for lying. And then the principal lectured me on respecting people's 'beliefs' and stuff, and I stood up for myself and now I'm suspended and have detention all of next week." I explained.

"That's complete bullshit! Why does it matter who people like!?" Kirishima argued. I nodded as Mina pulled me into a hug.
"Y-You guys aren't homophobic... right?" I asked with a shaky voice.
"Of course not! I'm like the gayest person around." Kirishima said.
"Yeah, for Bakugo..." I whispered to myself.
"What was that?" Kirishima asked. Mina burst into laughter as the bell rang.
"Well, we should head to class." Sero said.
"Feel better Amethyst." Kaminari said as he followed Sero to class.
"Come on, we should go too." Mina said. I nodded, and walked to class.

After school I walked straight to work and scooped myself some ice cream. With all the shit that happened today, I deserved it.
"Hey Himi." I greeted Himi.
"Hi Amy~. How was your day?" She asked me.
"Shit. It was really shit." I replied.
"What happened?"
"Long story short the principal and some other second year were being homophobic and now I'm suspended for two days and I have detention all of next week."

"Who was it?" She asked me seriously.
"The second year? His name was Tohru, why?" I asked.
"No reason, just curious~."
"Okay....? I probably won't be at work all of next week cause of detention."
"Aw, I wanted to see you."
"Well unless the school gets shut down cause of a random worldwide sickness, or someone gets murdered in the school, then I'll be in detention all week next week."
"Murder~...."
"We should get to working now."

I tied my hair up and walked out front to scoop some ice cream. The person who was working a shift before us high fived me then walked to the back to leave.
"Hi, can I get one scoop of- Wait! It's you... it's the d-" Tohru spoke before I cut him off.
"What flavour of ice cream was that?" I gritted my teeth.
"I don't want ice cream from a queer-"
"Is that him?" Himi asked me with a blank look on her face.
"Yeah." I informed her. She nodded and watched as Tohru walked off.

I watched as Himi helped the next customer. How Himi's hair moved as she scooped the ice cream, how her eyes glistened in the light, how her lips parted slightly and-
"Hellooooo, are you okay? I've been trying to order for a minute now." Someone said, snapping me out of my little trance.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I kinda zoned out a second there, what would you like?" I asked the little girl I was serving. She looked about 9.

"I'd like one scoop of the double chocolate peanut crunch please." The girl ordered.
"Cone or cup?" I asked.
"Cone please." I grabbed a cone and scooped the ice cream. "You know, next time you wanna stare at pretty girls, don't do it at work okay?" The girl told me as she handed me money. I gave her the cone.
"W-What!?"
"Have fun getting rid of that blush, lady. Bye bye!"
"I'm... blushing?" I asked myself.

As I served the next customer I couldn't stop thinking about Himi.

"SUSPENDED!?" Ethan shouted in confusion. I had just explained to him what happened today. He was just as mad as I was.
"I'm gonna call that school and give them a piece of my mind!" He shouted as her scrambled to get his phone out of his pocket.
"No! Don't! They'll expel me!" I argued.
"But... really? Suspension?"
"Yeah."

"Guess you'll be doing house work for the next two days then." Ethan told me.
"What!?" I argued. Ethan laughed.
"I'm kidding. Just do some training or something. I'll call the school and tell you what's happening when you're gone. I'm sure they won't mind."

"Alright, thanks dad- shit wait I mean-"
"Dad?"
"I'm sorry."
"It's fine, I like it."
