*3 Months Later*
DANSBY
A night out with the team was much needed. I glanced around the club and saw everyone celebrating our sweep over the Phillies.
I was pulled from my thoughts when I noticed I was standing behind a girl with a Braves jersey on.
I chuckled as I read my name and number on it before making it known that I was there.
"Fan of Swanson?" I said over the music.
"He's alright," she said. She still hadn't even turned around to look at me.
"Alright?" I questioned.
"Yeah. I mean, he's good, but his bat is inconsistent. The only thing that keeps him playing over Hechavaria is his amazing defense," she replied.
A girl who knows baseball is a girl who has my heart.
"Ouch," I said. That was a major bruise to my ego.
When she turned around, my breath left my lungs and I was standing there like an idiot.
"Dansby," she chocked out. Her eyes were wide and her face was filled with shock.
"Blake," was all I said before she ran out the door.
I wasn't letting her get away this time.
I chased her out and grabbed her wrist to turn her towards me.
"Let go of me, Dansby," she said.
I didn't say anything.
"Please," she said, her voice cracking. I saw unshed tears in her eyes.
I released her hand and she jumped into the uber next to her.
I trudged back into the club and towards the team's table.
"You okay, man? It looks like you saw a ghost," Ozzie said to me.
"I just saw Blakelynn," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Holy shit, dude. Are you okay?" Freddie asked.
"Yeah. I think I'm just gonna go home," I said as I turned to leave.
