BLAKELYNN
"You don't need him, Blakelynn. You're like a literal angel," Khalid spoke to me from across the table.
He'd texted me wanting to hang out at a local cafe, and I couldn't refuse. We'd been texting a lot, and he was a really cool friend.
"Looking back on it now, I can see why Dansby said he didn't treat me right. He really didn't. He didn't even keep my number saved in his phone," I laughed.
"I'll keep your number saved, Blake," Khalid said laughing. "Maybe one day you'll call me," he said referring to the fact that he always texted first.
"Oh whatever. You know I get distracted easy and forget to text," I said.
"I know, I know. I'm just messing with you," he laughed again.
*****
"Blake, I'm home," I heard Dansby call out.
I walked into the living room to greet him. He didn't say anything. He only stared at me.
"What? Is there something on my face?" I asked.
He shook his head. "No. You just look really pretty right now."
"Dansby I'm wearing your sweatpants and an old t-shirt," I scoffed.
He rolled his eyes. "I can see that. You just look really pretty."
"Well, thank you," I shrugged.
Dansby... I have no words about Dansby. I can't even begin to describe him. He's amazing and he always has been. He really was my best friend, and I thank god everyday for bringing him into my life.
Maybe that was all we were meant to be- best friends. I mean, that's pretty evident because of what happened. Despite this, I couldn't stop looking at the ways his eyes shined, or the way his hair curled, the way his muscles flexed.
These were all thoughts that plagued my mind.
"What are you thinking about?"
I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at him. "Nothing," I smiled, plastering a fake smile on.
He raised his eyebrows in disbelief but shook it off. "Okay..."
"I went and had lunch with Khalid today," I said, trying to make conversation. "We missed you there."
"He gave me some tickets for a concert in Miami next month for us," Dansby said.
"Are we going?" I asked.
"I mean it's next month, so my schedule is free. Plus it's Miami, and you love the beach so I don't see why not," he shrugged.
"Okay cool. I'm excited," I said with a grin. "I have to order some more swimsuits."
"Only if you give me a fashion show," Dansby laughed. "Just kidding... kind of," he added.
I threw my head back and laughed, hitting his shoulder with my hand.
"What?" he asked, a grin on his beautiful face.
"Shut up."
