DANSBY

"Yes, momma," I said through the phone. "Blakelynn is fine now. She had the flu but didn't drink anything so she was severely dehydrated. It made her pass out and she fell down the stadium stairs."

"Oh my goodness," I heard my mom exclaim. "Dansby, I swear to god if Blakelynn gets hurt again on your watch, I'll—''

I cut her off from her impending threat. "Yes, ma'am," I sighed. "I know."

We chatted for a few moments before she had to hang up.

I walked back into my bedroom to find Blake laying in my bed. "Do you ever sleep in your own bed?" I asked with a chuckle.

"Yours is much better than mine," she mumbled, burying her head into the pillows.

"How so?" I asked.

"Smells like you," she said quietly.

I laughed again and climbed into the bed next to her. "Are you ready for Miami tomorrow?"

She glanced up at me. "Of course. I haven't seen Khalid in forever."

I honestly didn't quite like how close her and Khalid were, just because I had a feeling her liked her, but I would never control who Blake can and cannot be friends with.

"He said he's writing a couple of now songs to release at the concert," she said, a grin on her face. "I'm excited to hear them."

"New songs?" I asked. "That's weird. He just released this album."

"He must've felt really inspired by something," she shrugged.

Her phone started ringing and she rolled over to grab her phone off the nightstand.

"Oh, wow," she said, looking at her phone. "Speak of the devil," she joked as she showed me the caller I.D.

"Hello, Khalid," she said, answering the phone.

"Blake, how come only I call you," I heard faintly through the phone.

"I'm just a forgetful person, I guess," she said with a shrug.

"I'll just keep your number saved forever in my phone, and maybe... just maybe one day you'll get the damn sense to call me," he said jokingly.

She laughed and went on and on with him over the phone while I just zoned out and studied her facial features.

Blakelynn is beautiful. I've always thought she was. Her eyes where my favorite feature. They were green and sparkly and they had flecks of yellow in them.

I watched as she chewed on her bottom lip. She does that often. It's a habit of hers.

"What are you doing?" she asked, looking at me confused.

"Sorry," I grinned. "You're just really pretty."

I noticed she wasn't on the phone anymore. "You hung up already?"

"What do you mean already?" she asked. "It's been an hour."

"Oh," I said. I was shocked. I had been staring at her for an hour.

"What time are we leaving for Miami tomorrow?" She asked.

"7 a.m." I said. "It's a 9 hour drive and the concert starts at 8 p.m., so we'll have plenty of time to go to our hotel and get ready."

"We should probably go to sleep then. It's already midnight."

I nodded my head and pulled her close to my body. "Goodnight, Blake."

I could tell she was already falling asleep. "Goodnight, Dansby. I love you," she mumbled.

"What?" My eyes widened.

She didn't respond. I sat up and looked at her. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was even. I'll never understand how she's always able to fall asleep so fast.

"I love you too." I whispered.
