DANSBY
"Jesus, Blake, you look terrible still," I said as I walked into the hotel room.
We were currently in Seattle on the last road trip of the season. Blake decided to go with me because of her love for ferry boats, but she got sick last night.
"Thanks," she groaned.
"Sorry," I said. "I didn't mean it like that. You're still beautiful. You just look sick," I said, placing a kiss on her cheek.
She smiled up at me weakly. "I'm fine, Dans. I promise," she whispered. "Now get in the bed."
I chuckled at her outstretched arms, signaling that she wanted me to hold her. I placed the back of my hand on her forehead.
"You're really burning up, Blake," I said, concerned.
"I'm fine, Dansby. Can you just hold me?" She asked.
I laid down next to her and she buried her head in my chest. I wrapped one arm around her waist and ran my other hand through her hair.
Her breathing steadied minutes later, and I knew that she was asleep.
"God damn, Dansby!" I heard a voice yell as it burst through the door. "The team is hanging out in the lobby and you're up here asleep."
"Be quiet, Freddie," I shushed him. "Blake just fell asleep and she's really sick right now."
"Why are the lights off, Hermano?" I heard the distinct voice of Ender Inciarte come through the door.
"Shhhhh," I said, pulling Blakelynn closer to me.
Soon enough the rest of the team filed in, shouting and yelling.
"Guys!" I whisper-yelled. "Keep it down."
"That looks pretty intimate to just be best friends," Freddie said, gesturing to the way I was holding Blake.
"That's because we're more than just best friends now," I said making them all yell.
I felt Blakelynn shift in my arms and I glanced down at her to see her eyes beginning to open.
"What the hell," she said, her voice groggy.
"I'm sorry. I tried to get them out of here." My eyes were wide.
All the guys were frozen in their places, most likely scared of what Blake's reaction would be. Her eyes scanned the room and she looked at each individual player.
"I don't like any of you guys very much right now," she finally spoke quietly.
She squeezed her eyes shut and placed a hand on her stomach. "Blake?" I questioned, concerned.
She didn't say anything, but instead leaned over the bed a threw up.
Ender tossed me a water bottle for her. I handed it to her and she laid her head back down on her bed.
She groaned and placed a pillow over her head.
"Okay, on that note... I'm going to head out," Freddie said. "Feel better, Blake."
The rest of the guys filed out of the room behind him, so it was just me alone with Blake.
"I really am sorry, Blakelynn," I said, running my hand through her hair. "I told them to leave."
"It's fine," she said weakly.
"I'm taking you to the doctor if you aren't better tomorrow," I said to her. "I'll physically drag you there."
She looked at me, her eyes fearful. She was always scared of doctors.
"I really am fine, Dansby," she said. The fear was evident in her voice. "And I'll be fine tomorrow too."
I kissed her temple and pulled her body as close to mine as I could. "Okay," I sighed. "Let's get some rest, Blake."
She mumbled an okay and closed her eyes. Her breathing became even for the second time tonight, and I followed close behind her.
