The sun has come to spite me. Angling itself through the high windows of the computer lab, it bounces off of the newly polished metal pole and flashes its golden-hour rays directly into my left iris.
I hiss, despite myself, and win the perplexed stares of the other students studying nearby at various tables and couches.
"Sorry, light got in my eyes," I mumble by way of apology.
I take out my pocket-sized bottle of SPF 100 sunscreen and rub it on my cheek where the rays burned my skin. Nightfall cannot come fast enough for this overworked college vampire.
