Rue looked about the mysterious town. It seemed...familiar somehow. Like she had seen it before.
"This...is where you were born?" Rue repeated.
Lelie nodded. "Yes, and I loved this place, very much. The people were kind, and my friends were precious." The illusion around them started to shift to a closer view of the town, where Rue could see many young children happily running through the streets. Among them, were three figures. A young man with pink hair, a girl with long orange hair, and another girl with black hair that had three blue stripes.
"That's you," Rue observed, pointing. Lelie nodded again. "You look very happy."
Lelie smiled remorsefully. "We were. At that time, there was nothing to be sad about. We had our routine, our rules, and our boss, nothing went wrong. Then, our master disappeared." The image changed, and they were suddenly in a different world. A desert. Four large groups with another in a middle stood before them. "One thing led to another, and we turned against each other."
Rue gasped and her stomach lurched as the groups began to fight one another. Bloody bodies peppered the ground, and their hearts rose into the sky. One Keyblade Wielder flew through the battlefield.
"That's...you," Rue whimpered.
Lelie closed her eyes. "Yes," was all she said.
Rue trembled as the battle finished, leaving only Lelie. The image faded, leaving the two girls in darkness.
"How?" Rue asked. "How did that happen?"
Lelie shrugged. "People tried to do what's right, but ended up doing something wrong. Or maybe they did what is right, depending on how you look at it."
"Do you think this is right?"
Lelie looked at the half-Nobody calmly. "Yes."
Rue chocked on tears. "How...how do you see this as okay?"
"It's not that I see this as morally right, it's that I see it as inevitable. Not matter what those Keyblade Wielders and Masters did, that would be their fates."
"Then why don't you try to stop it?!"
Lelie sighed. "Did you hear what I just said. They did try and stop it, but it ended up the same way. Things like this cannot be changed, no matter how hard you try."
"Maybe it can, you don't know," Rue insisted.
"I do know," Lelie growled. "I know better than any of you what the consequences of trying to change the future are."
"So you gave up?"
"No, I simply accepted my destiny, and the destiny of these worlds."
"Well, it sounds like you gave up."
"I did not give up!" Lelie shouted, the darkness around them shaking. Rue froze. Lelie took a few deep breaths. "I apologize. My temper has been on the shorter end lately. I better send you back to your room." The darkness around them faded, leaving them in her room.
"Wait," Rue said, "you still haven't answered my question. Why did you betray us?"
Lelie sighed irritably. "It was inevitable."
"So you decided to lose our trust in you for this destiny? What did you think you could gain from this?"
Before Rue could blink, Lelie was suddenly in front of her, a blackened hand curling around her neck and lifting her off the floor. Rue tried to gasp, but her air was cut off.
"It's not that I have anything to gain from this, Halfling," Lelie snarled. "It's that I can't afford to lose." She dropped Rue, and the teen collapsed onto the floor, gasping and coughing. Lelie keeled down to the half-Nobody's line of sight. "I'm truly sorry, Rue. You had to end up entwined in all of this-" Darkness leaked out of the humanoid Heartless's skin. "But who are we, to change fate?"
Lelie's now-amber eyes were the last thing Rue saw before she blacked out again.
