Falling

I was falling when I woke up. The ground was practically jumping towards me as I plummeted from the sky.

I closed my eyes and braced for impact but it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I bounced against the ground and onto the sidewalk.

"Ugh," I groaned, putting a hand on my forehead. I immediately whipped it back in front of my eyes. I was wearing old cartoon gloves stained with some dark red substance.

I shook my head and a drop of the liquid flew onto the sidewalk. I had a double take. Was it...

"Blood?" I questioned, bringing my hand up to my forehead and licking it off of my glove.

"Mother of pearl! I'm bleeding!"

I clamped a gloved hand over my head and tried standing up.

"Woah," I said, wobbling. I stumbled down the pavement and came across a tall building.

"Happy hotel..." I read aloud. "It must be my best bet."

I reached for the door handle but sighed.

"Too short," I said, frowning.

I knocked on the door and waited. A moment later, a tall girl with blonde hair opened the door.

She greeted me with a smile.

"Who are you?"

"Uh," I said. "R-Raven... Raven Chaplin."

"Nice to meet you! My name is Charlie," she exclaimed. "Welcome to the Happy Hotel. You are going to love it here!"

I walked in with her and looked around.

"Why are you holding your hand to you're forehead?" She asked.

"Oh," I said. I dropped my hand. I'd completely forgotten I was bleeding.

"Well, we need to wash that off. Follow me."

I followed her past a few strange-looking people, but decided not to say anything to them.

"Alright, here's the bathroom. If you want, you can stay here for a while."

"Sure, I'll stay. Thank you," I said.

She smiled.

"I'll get your room key."

I opened the bathroom door and stared up at the sink.

'Still too short.'

I slid the step stool up to the sink and almost fell over at what I saw.
