I sat up.

'I'm thirsty,' I thought.

I got up and looked around. I couldn't see anything.

"Why is it so dark in here?" I mumbled, feeling around for the doorknob.

I stepped outside.

"Alright," I mumbled. "Gotta find the stairs."

I walked slowly to the left and grabbed onto the railing.

"Alright... one step, two step, red step-"

I swore I could feel someone trying to push me down the stairs. I went down the stairs two at a time.

"Blue step," I mumbled when I reached the lobby.

"Now, where to got a drink..."

I walked around, bumping into almost everything in the room.

"Woah," I said, almost tipping over.

It was harder to balance properly when I couldn't see. I blinked. Two bright golden orbs stared back at me.

I screamed and turned to run, slamming face first into something and falling over. The dark seemed to get even darker as I slowly closed my eyes.

~~~~~
"Uh, kid. You awake?" a familiar voice asked.
I blinked. I was back in my bed.
"Who are you? What happened?" I asked.
"I-it's me. Husk. You saw me and, uh..." he chuckled. "You screamed and ran directly into a bookshelf."
"Oh my god," I said, covering my face. "Wait, then how'd I get back here?"
"I... uh... I carried you..."
"Oh," I said. "Okay."
There really wasn't anything else to say.
"Goodnight, kid," he said, sitting up and leaving. My eyes had adjusted by now and I looked around.
There was a glass of water on my nightstand.
"At least it wasn't a total waste of time."
