"I... I..." Husk started.

He shook his head.

"I have to go."

He turned around and left. I was in shock. Tears filled my eyes.

"Oh, I'm sorry, dear..." said a familiar voice.

I turned around.

"Mom? Wh-when did you get here?" I asked.

"It doesn't matter, sweetie."

She smiled.

"I knew he wasn't good for you. I tried to warn you, but you never listened."

I looked down. My crying stopped when I heard footsteps in front of me.

"Raven... can I talk to you?" Husk asked, tilting my head up.

He squinted at my mom.

"Alone..."

Mom crossed her arms and glared at him.

"She doesn't want to talk to you. Leave her alo-"

"Yes, Husk, " I said, cutting her off.

I turned to her.

"Mother dearest. Would you be so kind as to leave the room for a moment?"

She growled and left. Husk turned to me.

"I'm sorry I left. I... I just didn't know how to handle it," he said.

Mom burst into the room. She was shaking with rage.

"That's not true!" she started, pointing her finger at Husk.

I turned around and left.

'Not today, Mom. Not today.'

I returned moments later with a smirk. I knew exactly what my mom would say.

"I won't allow you to go near my daughter!" she screamed.

"If he can't love your daughter," I said, crossing my arms. "Maybe he can love your son?"

"Ha!" Husk laughed. "Checkmate, bitch!"

I gave her a patronizing smile.

"Now what are you going to do?"

She gasped.

"W-well... You can't love my son!"

I shifted back into a girl.

"Raven, Richard..." I mumbled.

"You can't love my son or my daughter!"

I shifted again.

"... and Rift!"

Mom stopped.

"You can't love my... my, uh..."

"I'm an adult, now. You can't make my decisions for me anymore."

This was the best day of my life.
