I walked to my room and unlocked the door. My room was decorated in black and white and was set up neatly. I sniffed the air. It smelled clean and comforting. I walked around, examining everything.
"Why is there a rope in here?" I wondered aloud, pulling it out of my closet.
Then I wondered something.
"Can I die twice?"
Immediately I was tying the rope in the correct knot and securing it to the rafters in the ceiling. I grabbed a ladder and looped the rope around my neck.
Suddenly, the entire hotel shook and the ladder tipped over.
"Yeek!" I squealed as the rope tightened around my neck.
I looked down. The rope was too short and I was too close to the ceiling. I wanted to get it off of my neck, but I knew that struggling would only make it worse.
"Well, I'm tired anyway... guess I'll just sleep like this," I said, yawning. Before I fell asleep, I swore could hear someone singing downstairs.
~~~~~
I woke up later at night. I closed my eyes again, hoping I could fall back asleep, but unfortunately I didn't. I could hear slightly muffled voices outside of my room.
"Should we check on her? She hasn't left her room in a while."
My door creaked open and someone started looking around for me. I rubbed my eyes and looked at who it was.
"Hey, toots. You alright?" they asked.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just been sleeping."
That wasn't a complete lie. I had been asleep for hours.
"Well, where are you? I can't find you."
"Ugh," another voice groaned. "Move!"
The door was pushed open and everyone was now staring at me.
"Heheh," I laughed nervously. "Hey, everybody."
"Uh, kid," a demon with a husky voice said. "What are you doing?"
"Uh, you know... j-just hanging around!" I laughed.
"Are you... okay?"
"Yeah. I'm beginning to realize that I have no concern about my own safety."
"Well, can you get down?"
"You know what? I think I may be stuck."
