I woke up the next morning to Matt pulling open my curtain slightly.
“Leila, it’s 10:30. You have soundcheck in an hour.” He said.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked at him. “Okay, I’ll be in there in a few.” I said, sitting all the way up in my bunk. Pulling my curtain the rest of the way open, I slipped down onto the floor. Walking to the bathroom, I changed into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, applied a small layer of make-up, then put my Vans on and walked into the front lounge.
I found Rian, Zack, and Jack all sitting around the table. They saw me come in, and motioned me over. I poured myself a quick cup of coffee and then walked over, sliding into the bench next to Rian, with Jack and Zack across from us.
“What’s up?” I asked them, sipping my coffee.
“How’d you sleep last night?” Rian asked.
I shrugged. “Fine. It wasn’t any different than any other night, I was just in a smaller bunk.” I said, taking another slip of my coffee.
“Okay, we just wanted to make sure that you’re getting enough sleep. We don’t need you passing out on stage because of lack of sleep.” Zack said, and I laughed.
“Don’t worry, that won’t be happening.” I told them.
“Good. Should we go to the venue now?” Rian asked, and we all nodded. I put my coffee in a Styrofoam coffee cup that were always on the bus, and we walked to the venue together.
Danny always tuned my electric guitars for me that I was using, but I tuned my acoustic, because it was my own personal guitar, whereas the electric ones I was borrowing. We planned on going straight to the stage so I could begin tuning before soundcheck started.
I finished my coffee and threw it away, and then we walked into the pit, facing the stage. There, center stage, was Anya and Alex, all over each other.
“Well, looks like someone moved on fast.” I said, rolling my eyes.
“Seriously, that’s disgusting. Her tongue is like halfway down his throat.” Jack said. “Nasty.”
“Agreed. I say we go break this up?” Zack said, and we all smiled, nodding.
We walked over to the stage, and Jack instantly sprang into action.
“Okay guys, if you’re going to make out like that, get a room. Or a private hotel, because that sh.it was nasty. It was like Anya was trying to swallow Alex’s face.” Jack said as he jumped up onto the stage, helping me up behind him. Zack and Rian both jumped up on the other side, flashing grins at Jack.
“If you don’t want to watch, then go somewhere else.” Anya said, clearly annoyed that Jack had interrupted them.
Jack laughed. “If you hadn’t noticed. This is my stage, not yours. You don’t perform on it, I do.” He said.
“Well Alex is considering letting me perform.” Anya said.
“What!” Jack, Rian, Zack, and I all said at the same time.
She nodded. “Yea. Alex thinks it would be a good experience for me, and he might let me sing a few songs with you guys.” She said.
“Sorry, we don’t have any songs left for you to sing. Leila’s got that covered, and she’s doing an awfully good job at it.” Zack said.
“Yea. If you wanna sing with someone, find another band.” Rian replied.
Anya shook her head. “If Leila is singing all the songs, then I’m sure she wouldn’t mind giving up any.” Anya said in an innocent voice.
