“Okay guys, okay, okay.” Jack said into the microphone. “Because it’s Leila’s hometown, she’s the one who gets to close the show tonight, isn’t that right guys?” Jack asked the rest of the band. We knew Alex would have a fit about this, so Matt made sure that Alex’s mic would be turned off when Jack said he was going to ask that question.
“Hell yea she is!” Rian yelled into the microphone that was near the drums.
“Fuck yea, my girlfriends closing the show.” Zack said, and you could hear the crowd go ‘awe.’
Next to me, I could hear Alex cussing profusely into a microphone that wasn’t on. He sighed, put on a fake smile, and started clapping.
“Okay bitches, let’s get to this!” Jack yelled, and I laughed into my microphone.
“Hey, you can’t call my friends bitches, only I can call my friends bitches.” I said as Alex walked off stage to where Anya was glaring at me and Matt came out to grab his mic stand, moving mine over to center stage.
“But what if they actually are bitches?” He asked. I thought for a minute, and then shrugged.
“Okay, then and only then can you call them bitches.” I said, and he smiled triumphantly.
Matt came out with a guitar on, because he was going to take Alex’s spot on guitar for this song.
“Okay kids, here we go!” Jack yelled, and I started.
“I got your picture; I’m coming with you. Dear Maria, Count Me In.” I sang and then held the microphone out to the crowd for them to sing the next song.
“There’s a story at the bottom of this bottle and I’m the pen!” They yelled.
“When the lights go off, I wanna watch the way you, Take the stage by storm, The way you wrap those boys around your finger. Go on and play the leader
'Cause you know it's what you're good at, The low road for the fast track. Make every second last”
“'Cause I got your picture, I'm coming with you, Dear Maria, count me in, There's a story at the bottom of this bottle, And I'm the pen.
Make it count when I'm the one Who's selling you out, 'Cause it feels like stealing hearts, Calling your name from the crowd”
“Then in the field you'll be the show girl of the home team, I'll be the narrator, Telling another tale of the American dream”
“I see your name in lights We can make you a star Girl, we'll take the world by storm, It isn't that hard”
“'Cause I got your picture, I'm coming with you, Dear Maria, count me in, There's a story at the bottom of this bottle, And I'm the pen.
Make it count when I'm the one Who's selling you out, 'Cause it feels like stealing hearts Calling your name from the crowd. Whoa...”
Jack took his guitar off and threw it across stage to Danny, who caught it and put it on, beginning to play it. Jack grabbed a microphone, and we both stepped up onto a light box on the front of the stage, as well as Zack.
“Take a breath, don't it sound so easy Never had a doubt Now I'm going crazy watching from the floor. Take a breath and let the rest come easy Never settle down 'Cause the cash flow leaves me always wanting more”
Jack attempted to sing the last chorus with me, but instead decided crowd surfing would be better.
“'Cause I got your picture I'm coming with you Dear Maria, count me in, There's a story at the bottom of this bottle, And I'm the pen”
