The guys and I walked back upstairs to the den, and I introduced them to Mason and Audrey, letting them know Audrey was coming on tour with us. Jack seemed to be eyeing her a little, and she didn’t mind, that’s for sure.
“So, here’s the plan. Since we leave for tour in less than 3 weeks, we’ve got a lot to do. First thing is first, we need to get Leila in the studio with Alex to work on the songs she’s going to be doing. It’s good that there’s a studio here, because that saves us a lot of time and money. Next, you and Audrey are going to have to pack.” He said, pointing to Audrey and I. “We usually limit 2 bags per person, but because this tour is 9 months long, we upped it to 4 bags a person, plus a carry-on. There will be flying involved.” He said.
“Now, we’ve got tour schedules.” He told us as he handed each of us a sheet of paper with a long schedule of dates on it.
“You guys are going to be touring non-stop up until Christmas. You will get a week off for Christmas, and then back to touring. Thanksgiving will be spent on the road, sorry guys. In February, we fly over to Europe until May 3rd, then we will fly back to America on May 5th, and we’ll be done.” He said as we all looked over the sheet.
“Bunks will be worked out once we get on the bus, but there are 6 double-sized bunks, which will go to the 5 performers, and then one more person, which will be chosen by drawing a name out of a hat.” Matt said and Jack laughed.
“That’s so old school!” Jack replied. Matt scowled at him. “Yea, well, it works.” He retorted.
“Anyway, we’re bringing the van and a trailer, so equipment will be kept in there. We’re starting tour in Maine and working our way to California. There will be two hometown shows; one in Salt Lake City for Leila and then one in Maryland for the guys. Those will be the last two shows, so there will be a week break in between the two so that we can get from Utah to Maryland. After Maryland, we get on a plane and head to Europe to tour. That’s pretty much everything you need to know for now.” Matt said, setting his list down.
“So if we’re starting tour in Maine, then is Leila and Audrey coming to Maryland with us in two weeks?” Zack asked.
“Yes. They’ll go out East when we go out there so they can meet the rest of the crew before the first day.” He told us.
Alex set his list down and leaned back against the chair he was sitting in. “Wow, that’s a lot of stuff to think about.” He said. “What songs do I need to work with Leila on?”
Matt handed him another sheet of paper. “Here’s a list of tracks that I thought would work well with male and female vocals.” He said. He then picked up another piece of paper and handed it to Alex. “And here are tracks I thought would work well for Leila to sing alone. It’s all up to you two in picking which ones.”
Alex looked at the lists, then looked back up at Matt. “Dude, you put like every single song on here!” He said. Matt shrugged. “Well then I guess male and female vocals would work well with every song.”
Alex rolled his eyes and stood up, looking at me. “Should we go down to the studio and start choosing songs?” He asked.
I nodded and stood up, looking at Audrey and Mason. “Make these guys feel at home.” I told them.
“If I want to feel at home, I have to be walking around without clothes on.” Jack said, unbuttoning his plaid shirt he was wearing.
“Okay, /almost/ at home.” Mason replied as the rest of us laughed.
I walked over to Alex, picking up my guitar that was sitting next to the couch as he picked up his from next to the chair. “Ready?” He asked.
