Nightbreeze's PoV

I walk to the torturers tent and he's inside. Nava is unconscious and I can see what he has done to her. She's badly bleeding but I don't see any injuries bad enough to kill her. The torturer asks “What are you doing here?”

“I came to talk with the prisoner.”

“Are you here to torture her for what she has done to you? I would like to watch that.”

“I'm talking to her alone. I can do what I want. I am Second in Command.”

“More like you're a traitor. You almost killed our leader then left. Then you come back. And what do you want to do? Visit with the prisoner.”

A new voice asks “Who's a traitor?”

I recognize the voice. It's Elaethen. He wraps his arms around me. I stiffen for a second then act surprised he came in. The torturer says “You don't think she's a traitor? She almost killed you. Then left with them. She's a spy. She left then came back. Now she wants to talk with the prisoner alone.”

“She's not a traitor. I will let this slide this one time. You're my best torturer and I need you. If you say she's a traitor one more time then you will die like the other man did.”

“Yes sir.”

“Don't tell me what I don't want to know without my permission ever again. Leave us.”

He quickly leaves the tent and goes outside. I turn around in Elaethen's arms and put my arms around him. I make sure I don't touch his wound. He asks me “Why do you want to see her by yourself?”

“Are you jealous?”

“Why wouldn't I be? You want to spend time with our prisoner instead of with me.”

“Don't be jealous. You have a long time to be with me. And she's a prisoner. Don't be jealous about her.”

I know Nava woke up shortly after I walked in and she's faking being unconscious. But I still bluff while she's faking.

“I should let you be alone but I don't want to leave.”

“Don't worry about me. She still trusts me so I can get her to talk.”

“She's a fighter. She could hurt you.”

“I'm a fighter too. She won't hurt me. How can she? She's tied up. If she could've gotten out she would be out by now.”

I kiss him until he finally lets go of me. We hear noise outside and he leaves. The noise will cover up what me and Nava are going to talk about. It was perfect timing. Nava asks “Having fun there?”

“No. I hate doing this.”

“You seem to enjoy it.”

“Why would you say that?”

“You wanted to hurry back to him.”

“To help save everyone. I hate doing all of this.”

“You washed off your paint.”

“He wanted me to. I hate not having it on.”

“You didn't have it on while you were a slave.”

“I did after you rescued me. It's the one thing I have showing I am Kagonesti.”

“Then put the paint back on. You can't let him have everything he wants.”

“I have to in order to get close to him. He still doesn't completely trust me.”

“You're sounding like a slave.”
