They had not spoken since their out burst the night before infront of the other couples. After Nkuli had walked away, he followed. They both missed out on the day's activities. The guide had come to check on them but Nkuli refused to speak to her. Even though what he had said was true, Kenneth still felt bad for saying it how he had said it. It was harsh and uncalled for especially since they were both to blame for their marital problems.' Can I talk to you.'
Nkuli ignored him and tried to walk away from him and out the room but he grabbed her by her waist and wrapped his hands around her. They stood facing the same direction but he could hear her cry as she sniffed often. They were now back in the room and once again she had tried to get transport out of the resort, as soon as they handed them their phones back, but no luck. Which had been confiscated when they left for the camp.
' I'm sorry for my words yesterday.'
' I have nothing to say to you. You said all you wanted to say yesterday. I just think we should stay out of each other's way as much as possible for the rest of the trip. We will get back to our lives and I will file for a divorce. '
' Is that what you really want?'
He stood infront of her now with his hands still on her waist. Nkuli tried to avoid eye contact but he turned to every direction she did.
' No. Stop. I never wanted a separation let alone a divorce but it ain't working anymore the spark is no longer there.'
' Forget the spark do you still love me?'
' How is that important. You don't love me.'
' Where do you get that idea from?'
' You've managed to stay away from me this long and even moved on with your life and got yourself a girlfriend and then there's the cheating.'
Kenneth sat on the bed and invited her to sit with him but he sat her on his thighs when she tried to sit next to him. Nkuli had difficulty holding back her tears so she wrapped her arms around his waist and just cried onto his chest. Like a baby Kenneth held her and rocked her till all he could hear was her slight snoring. Holding her bridal style, he stood up and lay her back on the bed to sleep.
' I knew Susie had something to do with this but never thought you could be involved.'
' You know I had to. Anything to keep my baby happy hey. How is it going though?'
Kenneth stood in the balcony of their room talking to his friend and business partner about what had transpired in the past four days they had been at this resort. He hung up after an hour, thanking him for the expense free vacation.
' I'm so hungry.'
Nkuli said as she stirred from her nap. Kenneth made her a plate since lunch had been sent up and sat next to her.
' Thank you for removing my bra and shorts.'
' I know how uncomfortable they can be.'
He was grateful that she did not chew his head off for undressing her in her sleep.
