Though they still lived in separate houses, she was trying to work on her marriage with Kenneth. Mostly how they communicated with each other. It had only been two weeks and it was still a struggle for both of them but they have learnt to apologise to each other after an outburst. Her children were still hostile towards her but not as frequent as before since Kenneth came over almost every night. After her gym session Nkuli decided to take a pic for the gram. Due to her much more relaxed and happier mood, she decided to go back to the gym. Luckily her membership had no yet expired.
' You know I could take a much better pic of you.'
She spun around quickly when a pair of manly hands rested on her waist. The last person she expected to see stood infront of her. Still handsome as ever with his signature Mohawk hairstyle and that smiled that contributed to some of her marital problems. Compared to Kenneth he was lighter, taller and had more muscles than her husband. Had inviting lips that made her lose all her inhibitions everytime he spoke.
' J-j-oseph!?'
' Miss me?!'
He pulled her forward by her waist and for a second she forgot that they were in public or that she was married till he tried to kiss her. She quickly looked away from his hypnotozing eyes and pushed him away. She tried to cough away the feeling of arousal he was causing in her.
' Are you okay?'
He asked her with concern as she continued to cough. He grabbed her water bottle and gave it to her and helped her sit down on one of the machinery behind her.
' What are you doing here Joseph.'
' Well I'm back.'
' Back?'
' Yes,back for you babe. I know I left without a word but I left in a hurry.'
' That was two years ago Joe!?'
' I know but I heard you and Kenneth are no longer together and you aren't seeing anyone. I thought we could start where we left off.'
Nkuli recalled the time he met Joseph, he was her shoulder to cry on when there were problems in her marriage. As much as she blamed Kenneth for seeking solace in somebody else, she too added a third person to her marriage. Though she never took it further than lunch dates and a shoulder to cry on. He still had most of her attention. It hurt her when he suddenly disappeared and problems in her marriage worsened.
'We cannot just start from where we left off. A lot has changed between then and now. '
' Yeah you finally realised your worth and that you deserved better. So I am here babe. I'm what you need.'
Nkuli stopped him, he was rambling on trying to make her forget that he had left suddenly with no explanation.
' Where were you all this time Joe?'
' I had to rush to Botswana after I received a call that my mom was not doing well.I was just so concerned about her, I forgot to inform you.'
' You could have called me from there. Botswana has coverage right.'
Nkuli listened as he explained himself, claiming he could not get the network used in his hometown due to his mother's ill health.
