' Are you really okay? Do you need to see someone?'Worried about her mental health, Kenneth handed the glass of water over to her with concern. A week had passed since the incident in her office but she still had reoccurring nightmares coupled with insomnia. Nkuli had not been back to her office in a week and it worried him. He had tried to suggest she see a trauma councillor but she said she was tired of those people. Her words.
' I told you, I'll be fine. I just need to relax.'
They hand not heard anything about Joseph or seen him and he has also stopped sending her flowers. Grace had informed them about it. The last time he had texted her was the day he was dragged out of her office kicking and screaming. Nkuli was worried after what had transpired that he would come back and hurt her but Kenneth reassured her that he would not.
' Try to get some sleep then. The kids are with my parents. I'm going out to finalise the sale on my house.'
He had decided to sell his house after he officially moved back home. He had moved all his belongings back in the same week she had asked him to come back.
' I forgot about that. Please lock all the doors and windows before you leave.'
Kenneth drove towards his house worried about his wife. He parked his car next to the estate agent's car and another which he assumed to be the buyers car in his old driveway. Grabbing everything he needed he walked into the house.
' Mr. Nkosi these are the Gumbi's who will be buying your house.'
Rose, the agent said introducing them. They had two young children with them who went around looking at the house and calling dibs on which bedrooms were theirs. When the couple were satisfied, they signed the contract which they had taken to their lawyers to read and left.
' Well she refuses to see anyone. So right now I do not know what to do.'
He vented to his father while they sat on the porch of the house he grew up in and his daughter played in the yard. His three oldest were once again out visiting friends.
' Don't force her to do anything about it. As she might be blaming herself for the attack. All you can do right now is support her and be there for her till she agrees to talk to someone because in the state she is in now, she won't recover without help.'
He trusted his father since he was a medical professor who had deal with a lot in the medical field. His mother was also a nurse but they met before he even started medical school.
' I don't know how long I can just wait on her to decide. It hurts when she wakes up screaming and kicking. I cannot help but wonder what he would have done to her if I had not walked in when I did.'
' You also need to stop thinking like that. Why don't you go with her for counselling or better yet take her to the beach on a vacation or a spa for a weekend.'
Kenneth sat quietly thinking about what his mother had suggested.
