Nkuli sat down with a sigh on the log as soon as they got to their picnic area. They had been outdoors since ten in the morning and hiked from the resort to their different picnic spots. They were a group of six couples plus the instructor and her wife. They were instructed to hike to the resort lake which took them an hour to get to then they had to row across the lake which took them longer than the other couples because Nkuli refused to listen to Kenneth's instructions.

' You're acting like you rowed before!'

' I haven't but I've seen how they do it on tv. You just refuse for me to be right and you wrong. I thought you might have changed your controlling ways by now.'

' Shut up! I did do as you said but that boat- thingie did not even move.'

' You're still rude and ready to answer. Then you wonder why I -'

Kenneth kept quiet when he realised what he was about to say and she kissed her teeth at him. They had walked all the way to their picnic spot arguing and blaming each other for everything that went wrong.

' Fuck you Kenneth!'

Afraid to go anyway far from their spot turned to face a different direction. Only to be irritated by the appearance of their guide who had a basket in her hand. Nkuli rolled her eyes at her cheerfulness she did not care to be here and she planned on being as miserable as she could.

' So I brought you supplies for the night -'

' Night?!!'

Nkuli exclaimed in shock she was not sleeping outside with the bugs, creepy crawlers and untamed animals. She stood and pulled down her shorts which had ridden up the middle of her thighs. Kenneth could not help but smile as he recalled how that was his favorite spot in winter. He would put his hands inbetween her thighs or lay in her so that his head sat inbetween them.

' Yeah I'm not sleeping here. I don't care what you crazy white woman do to me but I ain't staying here to be animal dinner. No offence but this is some white people shit. Black people don't go camping. Even our ancestors had huts and grass houses back in their days.'

Their guide kept her smile on her face while Kenneth shook his head. He had forgotten how Nkuli could be dramatic even when unnecessary. He grabbed the supplies from the guide and thanked her.

' Okay. Nkuli please set up the tent for the night. Your husband will do the cooking tonight.'

' No! I am leaving.'

The sun was already setting when she grabbed her belongings and walk away from their camp site. Only to return a few minutes later defeated. Kenneth smiled to himself while he worked on dinner. She grabbed the tent and started working on it, cussing every five minutes when she could not get it right. It was dark and the little light they had could not be used by Kenneth and her simultaneously.

' Dinner is ready.'

' Thanks but I'm not hungry. Just need to get this damn tent up!'

He sat down to eat and she glared at him for not helping.
