Beat the Odds

I woke up out my sleep sweating and could barely breath. It's been like this for almost a month now. The only time I came out my room was to get something to eat. Fred ended up moving out I haven't seen him in a couple days I mean he still stops by. Jackie was still being her ripping and running only thing different is I play the mother role to Andre 100 percent now it's like he is my child. I haven't said a word to Jackie since the incident. If I could leave I would but I have no where to go. I didn't have anyone to protect me from things like this. I never met my father only thing I know is that he left when I was 5 months and that's what Jackie told me.

I really needed to go back to school and I said I'll start going back next week. Only person that showed up to see what was going on with me was Hannah. I pushed her off and told her I was okay. I really feel bad for doing that now. As for Shay she didn't stop by it was almost as if she didn't care maybe she was still mad from what happened at the mall but who knows.

I made my way back up stairs with a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal in my hand and an apple. It was really much to eat in here but it was something for now. When I got through eating I dressed Andre up in his long sleeve onesie and put his black hat on his head. I made sure to grab his can of milk and a the little diapers he had left and stuffed them in the diaper bag. I made a mental note to go steal more things for him once we headed out. I decided to wear my hair straight back in a slick ponytail. I put on an all white long sleeve shirt, black high waisted jeans and some converse. I didn't even bother to lock the front door after heading out there's nothing in there to steal.

Making my way to the rec it was very chilly I made sure I had Andre wrapped up because I didn't not want to deal with him being sick that's when he became very grumpy. The rec was only 3 blocks from Jackie's house and honestly I missed coming to box and making a lil change from here and there.

Walking into the rec I seen Mr.Gater the man over the rec and also my boxing coach. "Hey there my little Lin-Lin I haven't seen you in so long I missed you around here," he said as he hugged me. "Hey Mr.Gater I missed coming around here so I decided to stop by," I said pulling off my jacket. "Alright now you know if you need anything you can always ask me you're like the daughter I always wanted," he said as he put on his boxing gloves. "I know thanks for looking out. I really want to get some warm ups in today if that's cool," I said stretching. "Yeah that's fine let's get started," Mr Gater said as he moved around the ring.

Finishing up the boxing workout that I needed I grabbed all my things and me and Andre was out. I didn't have any money to catch the bus because I haven't been working at the rec since the incident happened I had to walk to Walgreens which was about a 30 min walk. Andre needed milk, wipes, and pampers. Jackie never even thought about buying him anything she was to busy selling her body for money or getting high. I even think she started sleeping with the landlord just so she can stay in the place we had now.

As I walked there was a group of guys standing on the corner and lord knows I hate passing by a group of boys my stomach turns over and I get this weird feeling. Quickly walking by without looking around I heard this guy calling me. "Say shorty lemme see what you working with," I ignored him and continued walking. "Aye bitch you don't hear my dude talking to you," another guy said as he grabbed my arm. "Please let me go, I won't bother you if you just let me go," hoping that someone would hear me. "Naw bitch we about to have fun with you tonight fuck that" I heard him say making all the guys laugh. I felt a tear drop from my eye and thought to myself that I had to do something quick I couldn't degrade myself like that.

As soon as the guy grabbed my arm I kicked him right between his legs and grabbed Andre's stroller and pushed it as fast as I could running. Once I got tired I looked back to see if anyone was following me but I didn't see anyone.
