*Scars POV*
I slowly opened my eyes and sat up. I don't wanna be awake today. I sighed and got up to do my morning routine. I put on a gray short sleeved shirt and tucked it into my black jeans that are ripped at the knees. I tied a red and black flannel around my waist and slipped on my socks and black ankle boots. I brushed my hair and put my prosthetic on, grab in my phone and walking out my room.
I saw Sal sitting on the couch, reading something on his phone. He looked...confused. "What is it, SallyFace?" I asked. "Something...isn't right,"he explained. "What do you mean?" I asked as I put my phone on my pocket. "Read this,"Sal handed me his phone and I read a message from Travis.
"I'm sorry, Sal. I didn't mean to do this. I have no choice. I hope you won't get mad at me when you've realized what is happening. I want you to know that I really do care about you but we can be together...at least not now...I need my dad to go away if we're going to work. Right now, this is what has to be done. When everything is over, you might not see me again. I'm sorry."
"Is he going to kill his dad?" I asked. Sal shook his head,"He wouldn't. He's told me that before. I don't know what's happening at all." "Do you know where Travis is?" I asked. Sal shrugged,"I don't know, Scar...I just want to know if he's ok." I sighed and held my hands out to Sal, he took my hands and I pulled him up. "Let's go look for Travis,"I said and Sal nodded. The two of us set out to go find Travis.
Halfway through our walk, Sal got a text from Ash and he read it out loud,"Sal! Head to Wendigo Lake! There's something suspicious going on! It's the cult! The one that we found the lair for in the basement!"
Sal and I exchanged a look before running to Wendigo Lake. I pulled out my phone and texted Larry,"Hey, I don't know if you're up or busy but Sal and I are heading to Wendigo Lake. Apparently, there's some cult shit going on."I put my phone away as Sal and I ducked behind a rock to check out what was happening. There were a group of people with dark cloaks on and gloves on. One man even had a dog mask on. "Sir, this girl was found watching us,"two cult members threw a girl on the ground and Travis gasped. "Ash," Sal whispered quietly. My eyes were glued onto a man with a dog mask, memories of the past came flooding back. Maybe...Maybe Mom was murdered. The man took off his mask to reveal who I never wouldn't expected.
"Mr. Phelps?" I whispered quietly. Kenneth grabbed Ash off the floor and held a knife to her throat. "Let me go!" Ashley stayed perfectly still while she protested, knowing that if she struggled and squirmed that she was sure to die. "This should teach you not to stick your nose in other people's business,"Kenneth said before, in the blink of an eye, he slit Ashley's throat and dropped her.
"No..."Sal said and I put my hand over my eyes, taking a deep breath. I couldn't get that image out of my eyes so I uncovered my eyes. I felt a hand touch my shoulder and I turned around to see Larry. He looked horrified. Why would you do that?!" Travis yelled. "She was a witness,"Kenneth said simply. "She didn't do anything wrong!" Travis yelled and threw himself at his dad. Kenneth caught Travis and tried to get Travis away from him.
"Get...away...from...me...boy!" Kenneth said as Travis grabbed ahold of the knife his dad had and stabbed his father. Sal, Larry and I gasped in surprise. Kenneth held the knife that had now penetrated him but Travis pulled the knife out. Kenneth falling to the ground and start bleeding out. Sal, Larry and I all ran toward the commotion, several cult members trying to grab us but the three of us were too fast.
Travis sat on the ground, sobbing. Sal sat next to him and rubbed Travis' back, taking the knife out of his gloved hands. "It's gonna be ok, Travis...we're here now. It's going to be alright,"Sal whispered to him as Larry kneeled down by Ashley's body. "Oh my God,"Larry let out a shaky breath and I kneeled down next to him and held his hand. "I may have not liked her...but I-I'm here for you, ok?" I said and Larry nodded.
All of us were so caught up in the aftermath of this...that we didn't even hear the sirens approaching. Or the retreating footsteps of the other cult members.
We didn't realize what was happening...
Until the sirens got louder...
And closer...
And the cops had surrounded us.
"Freeze! All of you put your hands up!" Sal, Larry, Travis and I all stood up and put our hands up. I looked over at Sal and Travis...only to see Sal still holding the knife that Travis used to kill his dad. "Drop the knife!" Sal looked at the knife in his hands and his eyes widened, he dropped the knife on the ground. "Grab him,"one officer pointed to Sal and Travis' eyes widened as the cops grabbed Sal. Travis went to reach for Sal but I ran over and held him back,"Travis, no."
"They-They can't! They can't take Sal away!" Travis was crying more now as we looked at Sal being put into the police car. I held Travis tight by the shoulders and tried to hide the tears that were spilling out of my own eyes. Larry put his arm around my waist and held me close to him. Sal looked out the window at us and he smiled at us from under his prosthetic. He put his finger to his prosthetic in a 'Sh' motion and he mouthed to us: It's going to be ok.
And with that...
He was gone...
