Chapter 29: Not a very smart way to help, but ok

"Alrighty, there is going to be a few things you guys have to do in order to stay here while me and Frankie work on those pills." Kiara said as she walked around the room, arms crossed.

Everyone's eyes moved along with her.

"Yes, what do we have to do?" Tao asked, raising his hand.

Kiara faced in front of them.

"You can't stay here for free. So I have decided to give you guys a job you can do with M-21 here." Kiara started.

M-21 looked surprised.

"What is our job?" Takio asked, his icy blue eyes staring at Kiara.

"You guys will have to work as the guards of my school of course! You three will work together..."

M-21, Takio and Tao glanced at each other a little surprised. Kiara smiled.

"You guys will be paid handsomely...." Kiara grinned.

That's when the three men lit up.

"Yes ma'am!" The trio said, giving a salut to Kiara.

That's when Frankenstein interrupted them. He asked Kiara to talk to him in private. They went to a corner.

"Listen. Are you sure you want to do this?" Frankenstein asked.

"Yes! It's gonna be fun to train a bunch of modified humans." Kiara gave an evil smile.

Frankenstein smiled.

"I'll leave them to you then..."

"I should get going now. It's getting pretty late." Kiara added.

Rai looked at Kiara.

"I will walk you home..." He softly uttered.

Kiara let out a nervous laugh.

" Haha no thanks. I can take care of myself don't want to handle another kid." Kiara joked.

Rai gave her a serious look. He then went past her and walked towards the door. He gestured her to follow him. Kiara got the hint and followed him, annoyed.

The two walked across the eerily quiet area. It was surprisingly peaceful for a busy street.

The two didn't talk for the first few minutes. It felt a little awkward for Kiara but she was desperate to break the horrid silence.

"So Rai, why're you walking me today? You know I'm much more reliable by myself." Kiara stated.

Again, Rai stared at her with his calm eyes.

"It might be dangerous with all what we have been through...." He replied in a quiet voice.

"I see...."

As they continued walking, they encountered with something emerging out of the bushes. Rai flinched a little. Kiara went forward to see what it was and realised it was just a little cat.

"Omg what an adorable cat!" Kiara squealed as she bent down.

Kiara pulled Rai's shirt to make him bend down as well.

"Look Rai, it's so cute!" Kiara said as she looked at Rai with big, glowing eyes.

Rai looked at the cat, surprised.

The cat tried to touch Rai's face. Rai froze at the spot. Kiara chuckled after seeing his reaction. She decides to tease him a bit.

"I think it likes you, Rai. Why don't you try to let it a little?" Kiara said as she gave the cat to Rai.

Rai held the little cat in his arms, still quite astonished.

"YOU'RE ACTING AS IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN A CAT BEFORE!" Kiara laughed.

There was a look of confusion on his face. Kiara soon realised what she joked about was actually true.

"Sorry, my bad hehe...."

Kiara petted the cat's forehead and put her nose with the cat's. It was still in Rai's arms. Rai blushed a little seeing how cute both of them were.

"Hey Rai, c'mon pet it!"" Kiara said as she forcefully put Rai's hand on the cat's soft fur.

Rai seemed to enjoy it.

They soon had to reunite the cat with its friends. Kiara waved at the cat as it went away in the bushes. Rai stood beside her, staring.

They soon reached Kiara's house. Kiara thanks Rai for walking her all the way home. Rai was going to leave but suddenly he stopped.

"Are you planning to stay here or what?" Kiara scoffed.

Rai looked forward, sweating nervously. Kiara was now getting worried.

"Are you....sensing enemies nearby?!" Kiara exclaimed.

She became alarmed. That's when Rai opened his mouth.

"I forgot the way home..."

Kiara was shocked at this. Her jaw dropped.

"Wai-wha-then why did you come all the way here?!" Kiara yelled.

"I made a mistake...."

"NOW WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?!?!"
