13) The Meeting

' And guys, this is Kaira, my girlfriend' he said and smirked in my direction.

Everyone in the room were shocked. With happiness. They looked so happy. They were shocked excluding Karan and including me. But when did I say I agreed to be his girlfriend? Did he just..... Can he read minds? Because if he can, he will laugh after reading mines.

Kaira's POV

He has such a sweet family. Everybody is so nice.... except him. He declared me as his girlfriend?

My very first but obvious reaction was ' I'm your girlfriend?'

He reframed my question and repeated, ' See, Dadi, she is saying she is my girlfriend'. Did he just presented my question as my confirmation? He's so dead.

I gave him a death glare. He was smirking towards me. Oh god! This boy....

Dadi just walked again towards me and said ' Kaira, Karan is lucky to have you. I can actually see your bonding and the love brewing between you two. I hope you both stay together forever and happy. My blessings are with you'. After saying this, she engulfed us both in a hug with one arm around each.

I smiled weakly. I felt I'm lying to them and breaking their trust. They believe my lie about being Karan's girlfriend and I continue to do that.

Then Nikki stood from her place and engulfed me in a bone crushing hug saying ' I'm so happy for you guys.'

We pull away and she palces her hands on my shoulder. Then she turns to Karan and says ' So Karan bhai, finally a girl noticed you. But I feel so pity for Kaira, she has a boyfriend like you', she emphasized on you in disgust and continued ' Feel lucky that she even noticed your good-for-nothing ugly disgusting face!' And then she laughed out loud. Even I laughed a bit with her.

Then Karan did something unexpected. He snaked his one arm around my waist and flastered a sarcastic smile. Then he said 'Haha! Joke of the decade. But you know what Nikki? You just lost your sense of humour. Or should I say you weren't born with it?' He said so and laughed so hard. Then he turned to Sam ' Man, I feel so pity on you that she is your fiancee' and again laughed out hard. Even Sam was laughing by now.

The laughter immediately dies when Nikki gave death glares to his brother and his fiance.

Then Karan spoke ' Where's Naman?'. Nikki immediately replied, ' Where do you think he always is? He's with Gabbar, Rohini and Abhi. I doubt the guys are your best friends or his? I rarely see you hang out with them as compared to Naman' she said and heaved a sigh.

Just when Karan was going to reply, two ladies were striding down the stairs, quarrelling.

'No, Suman, No! I'm telling you. This pink lehenga is trendy. We'll buy the pink one.' said the first woman.

'But Bhabhi, we don't need to not stay uprooted to our culture and tradition for fashion and trends. We'll buy the red lehenga' the other woman argued.

'Pink'

'Red'

'Pink'

'Red--'

They were cut off by Dadi.

'Shut up both of you! Red, Pink, Red, Pink! Both of you have children but both of you behave like children. Sometimes, I feel your children are more mature than you', she scolded.

'But Mummy ji, Suman is not ready to listen to me' the first woman argued.

'Pinky, calm down. What are you two quarrelling about?' she asked, negotiating in the situation.

'Mummy ji, I'm telling that Nikki should wear a pink lehenga in her wedding. It is trendy' she put her statement.

'But Mummy ji, wearing red lehenga is the age old tradition in India, in our family. How can we break this ritual?' the other, I'm assuming Suman aunty, debated.

'But--' Pinky aunty was about to retort when Dadi intervened and said, 'This talk can be continued later. Right now, Karan wants to say something.'

Karan cleared his throat and said 'Maa, Chachi, meet Kaira, my girlfriend' and he smirked. Then he turned to me and said 'Kaira this is my mom, Pinky Singh Oberoi and beside her is my beautiful Chachi, Suman Singh Oberoi.'

Both of the ladies can rushing towards me.

His mom just pulled me in a hug and then said, 'Oh my Matta! Karan, your girlfriend is so beautiful. Tell me, should tell Pandit ji to look for a good day for your wedding?' she asked and I was shocked. Karan immediately noticed my face and started laughing. He was laughing! He was freaking LAUGHING!!!

I elbowed him in his ribs and his laughter immediately died.

'We are not planning on getting wed early. We want to take it slow' he cleared. Then his mom pecked me on my cheeks. This was followed by every member of the family. Even Rishi.

When everyone was chattering with each other about our relationship, Karan leaned closer and said, 'Even I belong to this family. If everyone gave you a kiss, why not me?' he said and placed a long yet sweet kiss on my left cheek. When he pulled away, we were just inches away from each other and our eyes met. I could see pure emotions of love and bond in his oceanic hazel eyes.

My bubble immediately burst and we suddenly jerked away from each other when Nikki wolf whistled. I felt a little embarrassed and my cheeks heated up. I was blushing. For the first time in my life. Oh my god! He has an effect on me.

He then said he was going to drop me off at my house.

We left the mansion and we were walking in the garden of his mansion when he intertwined his hand with mine. I saw that and grinned.

'So, you are taking me to my house?' I asked out of blue. He just nodded and smiled in my direction. We reached the car after a walk of 2 minutes.

When we were in the car, there was a silence. Not awkward, a comforting one. He started driving without saying anything.

I was looking out of the window and I don't know what came to my mind, I blurted out 'Karan, be my boyfriend. First and last boyfriend' with a small smile on my face. Let's see where this goes!!!!
