Befriending Allies

It had been three days, and it was now Monday. Over the last 72 hours, I had only ran into Ela twice. Both times she said hi, and one time she smiled, so I guess that's good. It was halfhearted though, so she probably just didn't want to talk. But, apparently, Marius pulled a few strings and got me in Tina and Ela's training group. Kudos to that man, he is a savior.

January 20th, 2022

I had gotten up at 545 to be ready to begin training. I had my favorite Danzig beater on and a comfortable pair of sweats, along with a black jersey to keep me warm if we were going to be heading outside. After a quick breakfast of granola and cheerios (Thanks for the tip Marius), I was ready. Seamus rapped his knuckles on my door exactly at 6:30, and I was wide eyed and ready to work.

I opened the door to face a tired, albeit smiling, Seamus.

Seamus- You ready for your first day?"

Y/n- Ready as I'll ever be."

Seamus spoke as we walked down the hallway- You're training in Gym One today. I'm in Gym Two. We were originally in the same training squad but apparently you changed squads yesterday. You do that?"

Y/n- No, a friend. But don't worry, it's not because of you. It's because of people in the other squad."

Seamus- Oh, so it's a girl. Or Marius. but probably the latter. Well, good luck, because half of those people are going to kick your ass. This training is on a whole new level."

I turned into Gym 1 and Seamus waved as he continued walking to the second gym further down the hall. 5 people were stretching on a set of mats. Two talking next to one another were Ela and Tina. Marius was in the middle of them all, and on his side were a guy and a girl I didn't know.

When Marius saw me walk in he left the middle and walked over to me.

Marius- Hey Y/n. Sorry, I was leading stretches. I'm the lead trainer of this group, hence why I was able to get you in this group. The Russian guy over there is Timur, the girl is Elena. They're both pretty nice, just a warning though, Elena is crazy competitive."

I continued talking with Marius and stretching for a few minutes before I noticed Ela was out of sight and was not with Tina.

Marius- Hey, if you wanna start talking with Tina now's your chance. I'll extend the stretches a little bit so that you can talk."

I cautiously walked over to the mat next to Tina and started stretching my hamstrings. She gave a curious but polite look at me, and then she smiled. Something about my muscles?

I spoke to her, trying to keep a steady voice- Hey, I'm Y/n."

She smiled back and spoke- I'm Tina. Canadian JTF2. From your accent... SAS?"

Y/n- You guessed right. Bred and born on the Emerald Isle."

Tina- Ah. You're the newest operator to Rainbow, but I think you'll fit in alright."

Y/n- I hope. From early impressions, I think I'll like it a lot here."

Tina and I continued to talk, and Ela was yet to return. It was a good 10 minutes before she returned. When she did, I smiled, and she responded half-halfheartedly, still uninterested. I backed off and went over to where Marius was.

Marius- How'd it go?"

Y/n- Tina's real friendly. I didn't really say anything about Ela but I at least got to meet Tina."

Marius- Eh, it's alright. Well, let's get to training, no more time to waste."

We went through what we would do in a full 8 hour SAS workout in maybe 5-6 hours. This was harsh, intense training. I mean insane reps of sit ups, pull-ups, weight lifting, long, high speed runs, everything. By the time we were done at 3, after an 8 hour workout, I was dying.

Marius patted me on the back as I was walking out- Good job today. You did pretty well for your first time."

Y/n- Thanks. I'm tired as shite though. I'm gonna go play guitar and then take a nap until supper."

Marius- Alright. I'll be in the mess hall around 7."

I walked out and up to my room. I pulled out my Yamaha acoustic guitar and began playing on my bed. I gently strummed to the tune of Wonder-wall by Oasis and a bunch of other songs, until I decided it was time for a shower and a nap. I went and took a shower, not having to wait for anyone or running into Ela. The short shower was followed by a long nap that carried on until 6:15.

I played on the guitar for a bit before heading down for the mess hall and eating, returning to my room shortly after to head to bed, still dead tired, even after a nap.

Really sorry this is an uber short chapter, but I really want a main thing to revolve around valentines day so I want to get to it quick and crank out work on this three day weekend but I need to build plot first.
