"Some trees flourish, others die. Some cattle grow strong, others are taken by wolves. Some men are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain't nothing fair."

Ageha Private Hospital

Suginami Ward, Tokyo, Japan

I adjusted my hoodie strings, blowing a quick bubble before I entered the building. I tightly held my bouquet of flowers as I walked through the rotating glass doors that gave entrance to a grand hall on the ground floor of the hospital. The marble arches that framed the room gave it a sophisticated feel, but the large fish tank off to the left and the numerous well kept potted plants dotting the room, along with the large amount of glass windows, kept it feeling lively. I took a short moment to watch a tetra of some sort dart in between submerged logs before I walked up to the reception desk. 3 women, all with brown hair in buns, stood behind the marble counter.

Since she seemed the nicest, I went to the woman on the right. She looked about my age, maybe a little younger, and her deep blue scrubs went well with her dark brown eyes. Slight bags under her eyes showed that she had been busy working, and her good posture showed me that she was probably an enthusiastic worker.

She smiled as I walked up to the desk.

"Ohayou gozaimasu. I'm here to visit two patients at your hospital... I was informed by my boss that now would be the proper time to meet with them."

She seemed excited at the fact that I spoke in Japanese (didn't want to tell her I only knew phrases that I read that morning). She responded in a calm voice, and for being Japanese, her English was surprisingly on point.

"Ah, our two new patients. May I please have the... paperwork required?"

I handed her the card that Six had given me earlier. Apparently only he had the machine to forge it, as it was very intricate for something only the size of a credit card, and it had his signature on it. The design was of a lion staring into a Savannah. After looking at it for a moment, the receptionist handed the identifier back. She wrote on a small piece of paper before gently handing it over to me. With two hands I took it, and as I brought it to myself, I got a look at what it said.

Room F37. 14th Floor. Door code is 18-32-47.

I gave a quick bow and then headed towards the elevator, the receptionist speaking as I moved away.

"Thank you, Flament~Sama."

Guess that was her formal way of ending our short conversation. Anyways, I walked down the short hallway of the first floor and to the first set of elevators, pressing a button and waiting for the doors to open.

After a few moments of looking at my watch and waiting, the elevator finally opened, spilling out two mid 30's men in suits. 47 seconds. You'd think it would be faster with how many they have, but I'm not one to complain. There are 28 floors, can't expect an elevator to be on every one at once.

My deep thoughts began returning to me once the doors closed and I pushed the button to floor 14. They were my soldiers. I had been training them. I wanted to die... I lost a soldier, and all but one were injured, two severely. It was the worst feeling in the world... regret. Regret I hadn't been on point. Regret that I hadn't trained them longer. Regret I had taken the mission right away. I would've broken down when I heard Y/n's desperate screams had I not been in front of so many people. Although our job as spec op soldiers is to be heroes, and look brave, strong, and powerful, behind that oh-so-thin facade, we're only human. Most of us are hurting and broken far worse than your normal person.
