"I'm sorry, I've tried so hard to get Vinny back but they threatened to strip me of my powers and take my wings if I disobeyed," Aliyah said to Duke and Madison who were starting to get more and more stressed as the hours passed by.
Oliver was curled up on the couch. He was shaking and still crying for his soulmate.
Jed was hugging John, trying to comfort him.
John could see how much the angel was disappointed in himself.
"I know there's nothing you can do. We appreciate that you've tried so hard to get him back."
Jed had his chin resting on his soulmate's shoulder and was watching Oliver with incredibly sad eyes.
Aliyah kept glancing at them, she didn't know Jed and John were together but that didn't seem important, not now that this devastating news has happened.
"I can't believe this is actually happening," Duke said as he ran a hand through his hair. "I can't believe the elders are being so cruel and selfish. Why would they let these two suffer like this?"
"The elders are very wise but they have no room for empathy. They don't care who gets hurt as long as things go their way" Aliyah said while putting a hand over her heart when Oliver whimpered and curled up even smaller.
Panuleon crouched by Oliver and ran a gentle hand through his hair.
Corey felt so sad, he couldn't imagine the pain and the loneliness he must be experiencing right now.
"It alright Oliver" He whispered. "We'll find another way."
Oliver sniffed and trembled but he slowly looked up to the angel and his determination gave him tiny bits of hope.
"I, I just- I c-can't-"
"Shhh, I know" Panuleon soothed. His calm angel aura was helping him a little bit. "Don't give up hope, we haven't tried everything yet."
"W-What else is there?" He muffled as slow tears fell.
"I'm going to try and meditate. I'll focus on Vinny and maybe I can connect you both together."
Panuleon didn't know if it would work but it was the last thing for them to try.
"C-Can we try now?" Oliver said as he tried sitting up with desperation. "Please."
Panuleon let Oliver grip his shoulders. He didn't quite have the strength to hold himself up properly.
"Sure" Panuleon's voice was soft and his smile was warm.
He took Oliver's hands and sat next to him on the couch.
"Just close your eyes and try to calm down as much as you can. I know it's hard but I'll do most of the work."
Corey sat on the arm of the couch and watched patiently. He really hoped it worked.
Luka was sitting on Rayvon's knee on the opposite couch. They were both feeling exactly the same.
Full of sorrow.
Especially Luka. He still felt like it was his fault and all Rayvon could do was hug him tight and try to give him as much comfort as he could.
He was still in shock that his dad would be gone for around four years. He was almost refusing to believe it.
Oliver closed his eyes, making the leftover tears dribble down his already wet cheeks.
Panuleon closed his eyes too. He waited for a moment until he was sure that Oliver was trying to settle his mind.
He then began to breath deeper and more controlled. He let the darkness turn into a different shade as he completely emptied his mind.
