Oliver eventually made his way to the dining room.
He stared at the ground the whole way, just to avoid the Staffs gaze. They looked really sympathetic and he hated seeing people look at him like that.
Jed was standing outside the dining room and his heart dropped every time Oliver made an appearance. He looked so depressed and he hasn't seen him smile in two years.
"Good afternoon," Jed said, just trying to lighten his mood but he knew it was impossible.
Oliver glanced at him, giving the angel a proper look at his tired and depressed face.
He did look exhausted.
"Hi Jed" He mumbled before walking past and entering the dining room.
The angel sighed sadly. If only the elder angels weren't so selfish. He was so tempted to break into heaven and give them a piece of his mind but he wanted to keep his wings.
Everyone looked up when Oliver came in.
They instantly tried masking their sad emotions and gave him kind smiles but Oliver avoided their gaze and sat at the other end of the table.
He still had his hood up and rested his head down on his forearms. He wanted to be around his family but it was just so hard to keep back his emotions.
Rayvon watched his dad with dull eyes. He has really struggled through these two years. He missed having little fun chats with his parents and he missed their little family hugs.
He missed watching his dads be together and listening to their stupid conversations. He missed how Vinny would randomly push him off the couch or trip him up when he walked.
He just missed how Oliver used to be and couldn't wait until his dads were together again.
His family felt broken.
Rayvon poured some coffee and put random bits of food on a plate.
He took the cup and the food before walking down the big grand table and sat next to his dad at the other end.
Oliver lifted his head when he heard things being placed in front of him. He looked up to see his son with a comforting smile.
The fact that he looked so much like Vinny made his heart hurt ten times more. But he would never tell him that and instead, he shuffled closer and buried himself into his son.
"I'm so sorry Rayvon" He croaked. "I haven't been much of a dad to you lately."
Rayvon hugged him and rubbed his back.
"I wouldn't expect you to look after me when you feel like this. Don't apologize."
Oliver still felt really bad but he was physically incapable of looking after himself, let alone his son.
But John has been a great help and kept both Oliver and Rayvon company.
Luka was sad because Rayvon was sad. It's impossible for one of them to be happy when the other one is down.
And it didn't help that he still blames himself.
Duke and Madison were so concerned for the safety of their son.
Yes, he's clever, wise and mature but they haven't heard anything from him or about him for two whole years. That was a very log time for him to be quiet.
They had no idea what his living conditions were like. Was he getting enough food? Was he warm at night? Was he suffering as much as Oliver and was he alone?
