3rd POV

Flashback 1 year ago

Over the past couple of years (y/n) has became known as an amazing dancer and singer. Her looks plus her body and the way she moved seemed to enchant men under some king of spell. While traveling in Camelot she happened to be requested as entertainment for the King's birthday celebration in the castle. When arriving she was welcomed with open arms and immediately shown to her room where should he staying until the party in a few days. She didn't have much stuff so unpacking wasn't difficult at all. Once she was done she left her room in order to go in town and look around. It was her first time in Camelot so of course she wanted to see it all. While walking through the castle corridors she happened to accidentally run into someone while making a turn.
"I'm so sorry." (Y/n) quickly apologized.
"No it's alright. It was my fault." She looked up to see a young man looking to be around 17. He had orange hair and unusual violet eyes. "I've never seen you in the castle before, are you new?"
"Yes. I'm actually here to preform for the King's birthday celebration. I was actually about to go into town but I have no idea how to get out of this castle. It's really big. Do you mind helping me?" (Y/n) asked oblivious to the fact that this was the king she was speaking to.
"I would love to help. In fact why don't I give you a tour."
"Really?! Thank you. My name is Scarlet by the way. What's yours?"
"My name is...ummm... Holden."
"Nice to meet you Holden." (Y/n) extended her hand out with a smile and Arthur took it. With that they walked off and (y/n) was able to get a tour of the castle but of course there were weird moments when some of the maids would about to address him as King but he would cut them off. When they reached the kitchen (y/n) decided she would rather stay for a little because she was feeling a little hungry.
"Do you think it would be alright if we used the kitchen?" (Y/n) asked.
"I'm sure it'll be fine." Arther walked to the head chef whispering something in his ear and the entire crew left the kitchen leaving (y/n) and Arthur alone. "Do you want to cook something?"
"Yeah. I was actually feeling a little hungry. Why don't you help me out?"
"Sure. What are we making?" He asked while (y/n) opened multiple cabinets until finally finding the flour. "Let's make some cupcakes?" (Y/n) grabbed an apron to put on and then tossed it to Arthur. From there they just had fun baking some cupcakes. Arthur would purposely throw a little flour on her face and of course she would retaliate with throwing even more on his face. At that point they forget about cooking. It was more of a battle until finally they both fell on the floor tired and laughing from chasing one another. There clothes didn't even look the same anymore because they were covered in flour but neither of them cared. They were just having fun.
"Okay I think we should actually get back to this baking thing." (Y/n) said.
"Agreed." Arthur stood up and offered (y/n) his hand. She smiled and took it so he lifted her up with ease. "So what's next?"
"You've never made cupcakes have you?"
"Was it that obvious?" Arthur blushed rubbing his hand behind his neck.
"A little." She giggled.
"I was never much of a cook."
"Then let me teach you. Let's start of with we aren't cooking, we're baking."
"Isn't that the same thing?"
"Nope."
"Then I have a lot to learn."
"Yes you do." She giggled. From there, the little teaching lesson began. There was definitely a lot of mistakes. The first batch ended up completely burned when Arthur increased the temperature without (y/n) noticing. The second time he put salt instead of sugar so it turned out tasting awfully. It finally took the third batch for it to go right, so far. When the cupcakes were taken out of the oven all that was left was to put the frosting on. They decided on an orange and red theme and when they were finally done they smiled in satisfaction.
"We're done. I wonder how it tastes." Arthur said.
"I feel like this is the good one." Then they both heard a loud grumbling noise coming from (y/n).
"It looks like you're hungry."
"I guess so." She blushed. She squeezed the piping bag contained the red frosting onto her fingers and then licked it.
"Here. You get to try the first one."
"Thank you." She replied taking the cupcake out of his hand. She brought it to her lips taking a bite slowly while Arthur waited anxiously for her response. She wasn't gagging so that was good but how does it taste? "It's good."
"Really?!"
"Yeah. Good job Arthur." She congratulated and he blushed a little. "Try one for yourself." They just started eating and talking until someone interrupted them.
"There you are. I've been looking for you everywhere."
"I know that voice." (Y/n) mumbled. She turned around only to be met with the Sin of Gluttony, Merlin. "Merlin!"
"(Y/n)? What are you doing here?" She asked but didn't get an answer. Instead she was engulfed by a hug from (y/n). She was curious but that faded once feeling (y/n)'s arms wrapped around her. Instead she just smiled fondly while petting her head. Merlin always had a soft spot for (y/n). She treasured her like a sister in fact.
"Wait! You know Merlin! And your name... are you..."
"Sorry for the lies." (Y/n) began removing her arms from Merlin and turning to face the king. "My name is (y/n), the Demon Princess, King Arthur."
"You knew?!" He exclaimed.
"Well not at first no but when you said you were a servant of the king I knew it was a lie. You are dressed to nicely to be a mere servant and the hesitation when when you said you're name told me that you were lying. Plus all the secrecy with the maids made it pretty obvious."
"Wow, you're really amazing."
"It wasn't that hard to pick up. Honestly you're a bad liar."
"I am, aren't I." He chuckled.
"So (y/n), what are you doing here?" Merlin asked.
"I'm performing at Arthur's party but please just call me Scarlet. That's the name I'm going by."
"You always did have a beautiful voice, but why are in the kitchen."
"I'm teaching Arthur how to bake."
"I see. Well you two enjoy yourselves. (Y/n) we can catch up later."
"Alright, bye Merlin." In an instant Merlin was gone leaving the two alone. "I wonder how late it is. We've been here for a while."
"Would you like to go to my room?" Arthur suggested.
"Sure."

His room was very large, exactly what was to be expected from a king's chambers.
"So why are we here?"
"To see this." Arthur said grabbing her wrist and pulling her out onto the balcony. When they got outside it was already nighttime. The stars were all shining brightly while the crescent shaped moon helped illuminate the sky and underneath was the beautiful city.
"Wow, it's beautiful."
"I've always loved it out here. It makes the city look even more beautiful." Arthur said.
"So Arthur, why did you lie about being the king?" (Y/n) asked turned her eyes to look at his.
"Sometimes I don't like being king. I love Camelot with all my heart and want to protect but I also want someone to treat me like an equal. Everyone here treats me like a superior. Even Merlin, she treats me more like a king then a friend but I know she still cares for me. I just wanted someone to treat me like a normal person."
"I can understand that. You're lonely. If it makes you feel any better I honestly don't really care if you're a king or not. If we're friends I'm going to treat you the same as everyone else. That's just how I am."
"Are we friends?" Arthur asked nervously. (Y/n) looked at him a little surprised that he asked that questioned but then she smiled at him.
"Yes."

Flashback over

That was there first meeting and ever since then, they had been close friends. Even after Arthur's birthday, when (y/n) was suppose to leave, he convinced her to stay for a while and that she did. She spent months on Camelot growing closer with Arthur as well as the people there until eventually she had to leave. Seeing Merlin again made her want to find the other sins as well. Arthur understood that well so despite not wanting to, he let her to leave with a brave smile on his face hoping that one day she'll come back.
