jungkook had left the bar, deciding it was time he walked home. the streets were dark, it seemed like the city had finally fallen asleep. at least that's how he felt without jimin around.
he considered himself lucky. he felt lucky that the god or gods were so gracious. well... he wasn't even sure if they knew that he had messed up as well. if anything, he wanted to endure the punishments alongside jimin... even though he didn't know what exactly those punishments were. maybe if he knew, he wouldn't be saying that.
jimin wouldn't want him to suffer anyway.
he walked along the cold, dark empty streets. he narrowed his eyes seeing a small pool of blood around some shattered glass. he could only imagine what happened there. it didn't take long before he was at his apartment. he lazily unlocked the door and went inside. it was dark in the main room, causing his face to settle into confusion.
he didn't think much of it though, he tossed his keys onto the table, throwing his coat somewhere. he just didn't care, not until he knew jimin was back and safe.
"jungkook..?" a familiar voice said, coming from one of the bedrooms.
"are you okay?" it was taehyung, who else would it be in his apartment?
"i'm fine," jungkook said with hardly any expression.
"you're not, where were you?"
"the bar."
"i... did you not remember anything we talked about?" taehyung said, continuously trying to speak some sense into the angel, but it never seemed to work.
"uh huh," jungkook said, walking past taehyung, heading for his own room.
but taehyung's eyes were a dead giveaway to say he knew something that jungkook didn't. but jungkook's mind was elsewhere that he couldn't even notice.
"you were with him right?" taehyung asked, going into jungkook's room. "the demon, that's where you were."
"he's not just the demon, or a demon, his name is jimin," jungkook said defensively, his mood changing completely from what it was two seconds ago.
"okay well jimin, am i right?"
"yes."
"where is he now? i swear if he just left you, there i'll go to hell myself—"
"first of all, you could never go to hell, second, no he didn't leave me, i went with him knowing he had to leave anyway," jungkook sighed, flopping his limp body onto his bed.
"so where did he go?" taehyung asked, sitting at the end of the bed.
jungkook shrugged. "he had a meeting to go to."
taehyung's eyes flickered away from jungkook. his attention was now focused on anything else but the younger. he felt a pang of guilt seeing jungkook this hurt, this... broken just because of someone who he's barely known. bu the did what had to be done.
it was an indirect hit that wasn't even meant for jungkook. after all, it's just angel's doing their job. it's like an employee that needs to speak with manager to get the job done, that's how it was. taehyung couldn't do it on his own.
"you know... there's other people out there, ones that won't get you into so much trouble like jimin did..." taehyung mumbled, knowing the younger didn't want to hear it, but it had to be said.
jungkook never really liked listening to opinions that he deemed wrong in his own mind. he didn't care for them, but he respected them. now he didn't even want to respect what taehyung had just said to him.
"but they aren't jimin and that's the problem, how could someone have such a huge impact on my life in such a short amount of time if it wasn't meant to be?" he asked.
taehyung looked down at the floor.
"you're looking for love... or pleasure in the wrong people or should i say person? or no, should i say demon?"
"he's not just a demon," jungkook said, his voice becoming more intense. the entire aura of the room darkened. taehyung could feel it. it was something he feared.
"then what is he? he's nothing but a shell of sin and everything evil, why don't you realize that?"
"because i don't search for the bad in people," jungkook said, rendering taehyung silent. "i don't want to spend all my time looking for everything i can to call someone a bad person... i wanted to get to know him for who he was, not who he was created to be," jungkook said, a single tear rolling down his cheek.
"now i don't even know if i can do that, he could be gone by now."
"if i didn't do what i did, you could be gone by now," taehyung said darkly, his eyes widened realizing what he said. jungkook sat up slowly, looking at taehyung with narrow eyes and knit eye brows.
"what do you mean what you did..?" taehyung now avoided the blonde's gaze.
"what did you do?" jungkook asked again. though, he could tell for himself what taehyung had done, due to the other's refusal to answer the question.
"you... it was you that snitched on him... but how— you couldn't have come in contact with the devil..." jungkook said, his voice breaking between words.
"i told the council that you were messing around with a demon... then they took it upon themselves to talk to the devil about it..." taehyung mumbled, realizing he could no longer win this fight. he had lost from the beginning.
"you... ratted on me too? i thought... we were..." jungkook mumbled in disbelief. it was as if his whole world was crumbling and he was just watching it. he didn't know what this all meant for him. now the council knows he committed crimes against heaven.
"i'm sorry... it was out of concern... i wanted to keep you safe, even if it means you're mad at me or even at god for a while..." taehyung said sadly.
"yeah, buckled up because i'm gonna be mad for a long, long time."
