Foggy wakes up when Evren is scolding Rot, tapping her skin a tad roughly. Rot isn't please as she does so, a tendril slapping the back of her hand in return.
"Rot! I told you not to scare him."
'I didn't...' Rot pouts. 'He's just a pussy.' Rot adds, arrogantly. She sighs.
"Are you five?"
'...No.'
"Then stop acting like it." She snaps, turning to Foggy. She caught him before he hit the ground, Rot throwing their arms forward. She can fel that Rot feels guilty about making the man faint. "Are you okay, Foggy?"
"Oh yeah. Totally. Totally fine." He says, clambering from the couch, heading straight for the fridge. She watches as he grabs a bottle from the fridge, cracking the beer open, taking a long drink. "Peachy." Another long gulp. "Totally fine here, in Foggy Town. How about you? How are you?"
"Uh..."
"Don't answer that." He says, pointing at her. He pauses for a second. "Actually, no, do answer that. Actually, no. What the fuck was that?" He cries, throwing his hands in the air. Beer flings itself from the bottle and splashes his suit.
"Uh... Rot?" She responds, skeptically eyeing him. He groans.
"Well, nice to meet you, Rot." He says, simply, reaching to take another drink when Rot speaks with her mouth.
'You are a pussy.' Rot states, plainly, her voice much deeper and smoother than usual. She can't help but frown. Foggy stares at her like she grew another head.
"You've got to be kidding me."
"Nope." She shrugs. "Sharing a body, ya know?" She points over her shoulder, towards Matts bedroom. "I'm tired, though. I haven't been getting good sleep. So I'm going to go crash in his room." She eyes Matt, who's still limply laid on the couch. "So, yeah. Goodnight." he finishes, turning and walking into his room. She crashes on the mattress, not even bothering to close the door behind her.
Her dreams are odd. She's in that glass cage again, but flames are surrounding it, even as she pummels the glass and it cracks. The cage shatters around her as she screams, Rot digging itself into her skin, Fisk's hand around her throat. His face slips into James' when she blinks. James lets go, pulling her close.
His mouth captures hers with a grin, glasses bumping against her cheekbones. She can't help but grin. Then he's slipping away into a blinding room. She calls for him, trying to go after him, but she doesn't move no matter what happens.
"James! James, please!" She cries, unable to move. Rot growls, screaming over and over for her to stop, that Rot will kill James before it lets her return to him. To her James. Her James that wears the ring he was going to give to her, the soft peachy pink morganite glinting. She cries as he bends on one knee, nervously playing with his tie.
She doesn't deserve love.
Evren jolts awake, lungs heaving.
'Your dreams lie.' Rot growls, invisible hand running down her back. 'Your inner thoughts are wrong. You deserve everything.'
She isn't so sure she does. Evren doesn't remember what she did before Rot, she doesn't think she'll ever be able to find out on her own, but it was bad. The darkness lurking in her is made from it. She knows so many things, yet so little. She doesn't know her favorite color, her favorite song. She doesn't remember anything about James except his name and that he's hers.
'He isn't yours.' Rot mumbles, quietly. 'Not anymore. You have changed from who you were. You would not be able to go back. You would not be happy.'
