Evren will admit that she's more curious of the man then apprehensive. Hell, the second she dropped Matt and him the first thing he did was chug coffee straight from the thermos, then stare at her as she stood, still covered withRot, looking straight back at him.
And now she's playing along with his plan, of sorts, after pressing the name out of him. It didn't take much, really. Matt is chained up, and so is she, though it will take no effort on her part to break through. Instead, she's scolding Rot, who won't stop complaining about wanting coffee, too.
"Shut up."
'I want coffee. I like the taste. Ask for some before I do.'
"No. The last time you had coffee, yourself, you dragged me across the city petting random dogs. You literally scared someone into having a heart attack."
'He's fine now.' Rot refutes, haughtily. 'We should have taken his dog.'
The chains around her jangle when she bumps the back of her had against the brick wall. "We don't take dogs from people. We're hardly ever home, anyways, a dog isn't good for us."
"You always talk to yourself?" The man says, taking another sip of coffee. She frowns.
"Yes. That thing, earlier, that's my buddy, Rot. We happen to share a body. They like talking. They also want-" She tilts her chin in the direction of his coffee, readjusting her legs. "-coffee. I'm sure you heard what happened the last time I let them have some."
"Yeah. I did." He says, curtly, turning his back to them once more. She yawns, leaning her head back. Rot forms a little sludge behind her head to make her more comfortable. Evren smiles at the notion. They're silent for a long while, simply staring over the city before she speaks again.
"I noticed you didn't actually try to shoot me or Karen in the hospital. It's easy to tell you don't hurt innocent people. You were herding us, right? Scaring everyone else away, but forcing us to go where you wanted." His eyes glare into hers. She raises a finger towards him. "Smart. What's you plan now, though?"
Matt groans, chains jangling against each other. His head lolls. "No, no!" He mumbles, grunting as he fights against the chains. She simply watches. His head twitches to and fro, fingers clenches into fists. Frank takes a theatrical sip of his coffee.
'I feel bad.'
"Morning, sunshine." Matt continues to struggle. Frank lowers his thermos, settling it between his feet as he finally looks to his bleeding arm. She shifts, and Matt's head snaps towards her, then accusingly towards Frank, jerking against the chains once more.
"What'd you do?"
"Nothin'." Frank responds, glancing over at Evren. She rolls her eyes. "They say you hear the gun that gets you. Always thought that sounded like a bunch of bullshit to me." He sucks his teeth as he pulls thread through a gash on his arm. "How about you, Red? When I cracked off your forehead the other night, did you hear that?" Matt only struggles once more. Frank sighs. "You can bash against those chains all night. Only way you get outta here, only way you walk free, is if I want you to. Know that-- your friend does."
"Why didn't you take my mask off?"
"Don't give a shit about who you are, or who she is."
"You killed everyone else. Why am I still alive? Why is she?"
'As if Frank could kill us with his guns.' Rot chuckles. Her mouth twitches before she forces the smile down.
"I got in your way twice now, and so has she, and you don't strike me as someone who just lets that happen." Frank drops his knife on a tarp, pulling it up to reveal boxes filled with ammunition. She asked about them while Matt was still asleep, and he told her what was in them. "Military grade hardware. You seem to know your way around it." Frank yanks one of the tops open with a crowbar. "You sure carry yourself like soldier." Frank picks up the ammo cans, passing Evren with a quiet breath of exasperation.
