"Frank Castle, the gunman wanted in connection with the Metro-General shooting and linked to dozen of recent gangland-related killings throughout Hell's Kitchen was apprehended just hours ago outside Saint Micheal's Cemetery. An NYPD spokesperson says 'Tonight, New York has Sergeant Brett Mahoney of the 15th precinct to thank'."
"Gotta hand it to Brett." Foggy says. Their eyes are all glued to the tv hung up in the corner. Evren's slouched forward, cheek on her palm.
Matt dips his head. "I'm glad people like him are looking out for Hell's Kitchen."
"Yeah," Foggy nods, tapping his glass. "And I'm glad there are people looking out for him." He says, turning and casting them both meaningful glances. Evren smiles, rolling her eyes. Rot hums against the hand pressed against her stomach. It's almost sleeping at this point, its pleasant purrs and hums providing more comfort than they probably should.
"Press are calling Castle a 'cold-blooded psychopath'." Karen shakes her head. "The DA's gonna have a hell of a time using his prosecution to turn herself into a hero. It's all working out perfectly."
"With what you've said about her, karma has to get to her eventually." Evren states, rubbing loose circles on her stomach. Rot purrs even louder, and the corner of Matt's mouth quirks up into a smile from her sarcasm.
"Way to lift the mood, Ev." Foggy jokes. She shrugs, batting her eyelashes.
"Hey, now. Just reading the room."
"Josie, would you mind turning the TV off? It's upsetting some of the regulars." Karen scoffs, shushing him, and Josie groans as she looks over at their table, but turns the TV off anyways. "I think we've had enough Punisher for one evening."
"You and me both." Evren mutters, poking Rot. It always falls asleep when they're surrounded by people. More specifically, Matt and Foggy. It doesn't care that much for Karen, even now, though it says it's only because she hurt Evren.
"Hmm, okay. I'll drink to that." They all raise their glasses, not quite clinking them together.
"To Brett, and a safe Hell's Kitchen." Matt says. They all clink their glasses.
"Hear, hear." Evren chimes with Foggy, while Karen hums. Evren knocks her cup back with Foggy and Matt, while Karen just takes a few sips of her beer.
"I'm gonna get us another round." Foggy says, gathering his wallet. I hope you all saved room for shots."
"Same again." Matt says, while Karen laughs.
"Oh, no no."
"Shots." Evren chuckles, though she eyes how Karen is staring at Matt. "Thanks, Foggy." She calls. He waves a hand over his shoulder, ambling towards the counter.
"Hey," Matt says, suddenly, head towards Karen. He drums his fingers against his thigh. Figuring that means to give them a minute, Evren stands and nods towards the bathroom, silently telling Karen that she'll be right back. "You okay?"
She gives them a moment of piece by ignoring them and entering the dingy bathroom, absently poking at her stomach.
'I wasn't asleep!' Rot screeches, all of a sudden. She rolls her eyes. 'Oh. You weren't asking if I was, which I wasn't.'
"Your purring says otherwise." Evren states, eyeing her hair in distaste. She hasn't really had the time, or thought, of cutting it. But now that she's looking at it, she finds herself hating how long it is. She can't cut it in at least a year- it's falling halfway down her back. She shoves her hair up into a tangled bun, frowning.
