Going Home.

Chapter 9

I look around the room and I can not believe how many people are there. Membership must be booming for the Wanderers at the moment.

I see Carrie over by the windows at a high table and I make my way to her while Ariel has gone to grab us some drinks.

"Hey girlfriend!" Carrie yells. Straight away I realise that she must have had a few drinks already. She has this rosy glow about her and she is a bit louder then usual.

"Hay Carrie, what have you been up too?" I reply.
"Oh you know, working at the school, fucking my husband, same old same old." She replies.
I let out a snort laugh and thank god that no one heard her as Slater would be so embarrassed.

Tyler struts past me and does this little spin turn and the walks back like he is trying to show me something... OMG, he is wearing a 'Prospects' cut.

"Wow Tyler, really, you finally decided to take a step up in the family business." I say as I see his big chershire grin show up. "Great job buddy and the best of luck." I give him a pat on the back.

"Hay Prospect!" Xavier yells "Clean up in the male dunnies!" Everyone lets out a laugh as Tyler realised that he has to go and sort that out. He stalks away to find the cleaning gear and go sort out the mess while we all get back to what we were doing.

"So how does mumma bear feel about that?" I ask Carrie. I notice that she is staring out and didn't seem to be too impressed about the situation.

"I'm OK with it. It was inevitable right. I mean, we sent him away to the best University for him to just come back here anyhow." She replied. I can see that there is probably more to this, but I'm going to leave it for another time.

Ariel slips in with a tray full of an assortment of drinks. "Knuckles has been reading up on all these fancy shots and cocktails. He wants to branch out a little and thought he'd make us a few since we are all here." Ariel says as she looks around to see what our reactions will be while waving a notepad that has the names.

She explains how we have to either tick what we liked or cross what we didn't. There is 3 of each on the tray for us to each have one.
"Bottoms up!" Carrie calls as she randomly picks a shot up.

We continue like this for a little while and as we get into the swing of things, a second tray is popped down. "Last tray, how are they going?" Knuckles asks as he picks up the other tray and the empties.

"I think I need some water, these maybe starting to go to my head." Ariel replies as she stands up and nearly stumbles. It's like he was standing there the whole time as I see Blazes arms shoot out and steady her.

"Woo love, have you been drinking?" Blaze says to Ariel while he looks over at me with a grumpy expression.
"Maybe I have and maybe I haven't." Ariel giggles. Blaze shakes his head and makes her sit back down. "I'll grab you some water." He says as he stalks off.

I myself start to feel the buzz and as I'm taking in all the people around me, my eyes lock on the one person that I don't want to see right now. Ryker.

He is just staring at me but makes no move to come near me. I slide my chair around so that I have my back to him and bump into Ariel. "Hey Mia, are you OK?" she asks as I straighten up. "Yes, I just couldn't hear you guys, so shifting closer." I lie as I pick up another shot.

Blaze returns with a few bottles of water and as Ariel goes to gulp down another shot, he swiftly takes it out of her hands and downs it before she can complain. She goes to grab another one and he does the same thing. "Drink the water." he commands at her. Ariel looks like she is about to argue with him but then she softens and take the water and gulps it down.
