Going Home.

Chapter 16

It has been a week of me mainly just hanging around the Clubhouse. Grae, my boss, has let me start doing remote work like phone calls and computer conferencing. It has been great to be able to keep in contact with my clients along with everyone at work. 

There are perks when you live in a small town. It turned out that Bernice, Xavier's mum, and Grae were old school friends and when Xavier explained what had happened, he initially wanted me to take more time off but I was going stir crazy, so this was the next best option.

"Hey Mia, are you busy?" Ryker asked.

"Not at all, what do you need?" I asked as he spun me around on the bar stool as he stepped in between my legs. He started to run him hands across my legs and up my hips and wraps his fingers around to cup my arse, keeping his eyes on me and pulling himself closer to me. He starts to rub himself against my core me and I can feel myself starting to heat up. I place both my hands on the sides of his face and pull his mouth closer to mine. He is gentle while he kisses me when we hear someone clear their throat.

"Ryker, we need to head out in 5." Xavier says with a smirk. I shoot him a glare as he spins around and heads back into the office. He stops at the door he says with a chuckle "Remember, there are cameras in here."

I hide my head in Rykers chest while letting out a sigh and I can feel him silently chuckling.

"Baby, are you OK to watch Jae while I go on the run?" Ryker asks.

"Of course, I'll tidy up and head up there now." I reply as I pull all my gear into my laptop bag. Ryker grabs my bag and we walk out to his bike.

Xavier, Blaze & Slater are there, I kiss Ryker good bye and watch as they drive off.

I hear Jae waking up and I look at the clock, its been about 4 hours since the guys left, so I'm not sure what is going on. I pickup Jae and change his nappy. He is making all these cute little gurgling noises. I look out the window and see how lovely the weather is, so I decide to change him into something a little warmer and take him outside to look around.

We exit the building and I make my way over to the playground. There is no one on it at the moment but there is a beautiful garden set up just behind it that Bernice, Xaviers Mum, tends to each day and I see that she is there, so I take Jae over to see her. Her husband was Mickey Tanner, the previous President of the Wanderers but he was killed a couple of year ago, so Xavier had to step up and take his place. Bernice sort of went into her shell but has been occasionally seen around, coming out of her shell to help out around the club but you could see that she was missing half her soul.

To me, besides my Uncle & Aunt, the Tanners were what I always saw as the perfect couple. They loved each other so deeply that each time you would see them committing a PDA, it made you feel like they were love struck teenagers. I always remember the way Mickey would look at Bernice when she walked into a room, it was like she was the only woman in the world.

To me it was so weird to come back and not see him hanging around the club or riding around town. He was such a prominent figure in our town and he always was such a wonderful person but if you ever crossed him, he could unleash a beast that would scare the pants off of anyone.

"Hi Bernie, how are you going?" I say as she lifts her head and changes from crouching on the ground to sitting. Bernice has been like a 2nd mum to me at the club and has always looked after everyone like they are her own. There was never a moment when you would not find her here in the garden, especially when you needed some good motherly advice.

"Hello dear, oh I have been OK. I've been so busy with other things that I've let this garden get too overgrown, so trying to pull out all the weeds. Is that Jae?" She asks while she goes to tickle his feet.

"Yes, Ryker is on a run." I reply. Bernice lays out the mat that she is kneeling on and motions for me to put Jae down. "On his belly love, he probably would love some tummy time." She says as she flattens the ends of the mat. I sit on the opposite side and just watch as Jae's face changes and he gets excited.

"I'm so glad that you are home and my heart is so happy that you and Ryker are moving forward." Bernice says as she takes off her gloves and takes in my face.

"What troubles you?" she asks.

"Do you think that maybe I was too weak and just took Ryker back too soon ?" I say.

I can see the concern in Bernice's face. "Heavens no child, why did you ever think that?" She asks.

"I just feel like we are in this holding pattern, like we have made up, sort of, but we have not really talked about it or set out what we are going to do moving forward." I reply. I don't know why this has been on my mind, but over the last week, this is all I have thought about.

"Oh Sugar, you two were always like an enigma. We all knew from when you two first met that you had both found your soulmates but the way you both acted around each other, it was so hard for anyone to understand how. No matter what happens in your lives, you both are destined to always come back to each other. I felt it ever since you both first met and I feel it every time you two are both in the same space. It's like the energy that radiates off you both when you are both together." She replies.

I chuckle, Ryker and I have been known for our 'thunderous' relationship. She is right, when we first met, we didn't know it at the time but we were destined to be together. He was always my knight in shining armour and he used to say that I was his world. You could never find one of us without the other. Roo was forever chasing him out of our house, but in the end I think he even realised that there was no way to keep us apart.

As she goes to play with Jae, I hear the roar of a bike pull into the lot and I swirl around, hoping to see Ryker. Instead I see Slater as he pulls up and parks his bike. He is on his phone, as he heads towards us.

"Where is everyone else?" Bernice asks as he gets into hearing distance. There was a slight look of worry on his face but as soon as it was there, it was gone.

"After the drop, there were some guys following us, so we split up. They should all be here soon," Slater said. He leaned down to Bernice and gave her a kiss on her cheek. I look at him and can see that he is a little rattled but knowing Slater, he tends to keep a lot to himself.

I hear another bike and see Blaze pull in. I get up and pick up Jae as Bernice folds up the mat. We head over to Blaze to see what was going on. It was not like anything ever happened on a run, there had been no issues for such a long time.

"Slater, have you heard from Shadow or Xavier?" Blaze says as Slater walks up to him. I gulp as I've never seen Blaze look like this, he looks like he has seen a ghost, his face is pal and I really want to know what happened.

Slater and Blaze head into the clubhouse. I can see that a few of the other members are there and I just have this feeling to hang back. Bernice turns back to me and says "Do you want to help me get dinner started?"

"Sure, I'll just go and get Jaes bouncer and I'll meet you in the kitchen." I say as I head off for the sleeping quarters.

As I round the back of the buildings, heading to the stairs when I see a police car pull into the car park. I recognise David, so I make my way over.

"Oh Mia, I'm so glad I found you. It's Ryker, there was an accident and he's being taken into the hospital. I thought I'd come and get you." David says as he got out of the car and went around and opened the back passenger door.

I start to panic and I head to his car until I look down and realise that I can't possibly just go without Jae's nappy bag and bottles. What if we are there for hours, I will need his gear just in case.

"Oh wait, I might need things for Jae." I say. "I'll be a couple of minutes." He nods and I dash up the stairs to grab his nappy bag and some extra bottles and formula. I quickly toss my wallet and phone into the bag and I make my way back down the stairs. I see David heading to the car.

"I just ducked in and told Slater what is happening. He said he will meet us there." David says as I jumped in the back of the car and David headed to the drivers side.

We head out of the car park and make our way down the main road.
